View Full Version : Queens Jubilee
Sorry about this rant but I'm watching the queens jubille concert and need to get this off my chest.
I wish these ****ing poofter pop mother ****ers would **** off and let those with ****ing tallent get on with pushing out great music.
I've had some totally unexpected brilliant music pumped out tonight and for some reason the producers seem to think that having a bunch of 'Here's Humphrey' refugee's floating around with a microphone somehow enhances the show. Well **** off.
Queen do have tallent and Brian May doesn't need some 16 year old blonde twat hovering around his old feller to justify a show.
Gotta go now, Brians Willson's just come on.
Fantastic concert...ended by the man himself Paul McCartney.
Maaaaaaannnn the Corrs are hot!
Man that was a kick ass affair!
Who were the two guys that did the QUEEN songs after Roger Taylor & Brian May ?
Where was John Deacon, the 3rd member of QUEEN ?

Sound quality was atrocious. Didn't get the mix right once.
Bryan Adams was surprisingly good. What the hell did I just type?
Ruby Wax must die.
Atomic Kitten can't sing, but you had to love that dress.

Yeah they cant sing, but gee what outfits!
To bad they didn't get Oasis there. Maybe they didn't cause they knew Liam would demand some chick to get her top off and get some breasts on the 'Jumbo Tron'. :D

How awesome was Brian!!!!!!!!!
I knew he was hell bent on performing to his absolute best for the show, but he managed to beat his best!!!!!!! I was particularly stunned by 'The Warmth Of The Sun' that sounded so amazing!!!!!!!!!
Even I was expecting a less polished performance...... CONGRATS BRIAN!!!!!!!! :D And ROLL ON DECEMBER, I wanna see the great man!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I wasn't that impressed by him at all, I must have seen a different concert.
I didn't know what to make of Brian Wilson. His voice was still as good as ever but he looked kind of uncomfortable.
Also a bit dissapointed with the Corrs. They're still easy on the eye but I thought they were a bit weak. Can't remember the accoustic Elvis song they did but that wasn't great.
Tom Jones and Joe Cocker were both superb.
The Paul Mcartney **** take of the queen was way out of line and just embarrassed everyone.

Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey were the standouts for me.
Glad that S Club 7 are slowly losing members of their group. What will they call themselves from now on?

He's never been comfortable performing, also he's deaf in one ear and that does mess him around a little onstage. And to top it all off, he was REALLY excited to be performing for the Queen so yeah. :)
Are you a Brian Wilson/Beach Boys fan?

What, you mean how he sang 'Her Majesty'???? I've always loved that song it's cute and I don't think it's meant to be offensive. :)

Let me ask you, how many Brian Wilson live performances have you seen/heard?
It's just that those of us who have seen or heard dozens or more of Brian's live performances over the years were astounded by how good he sounded.
Time may have faded his voice a little (and heaven knows he will NEVER come close to sounding as good as a Beatle  ) but considering everything he's doing bloody well. :D

So basically your saying his just an old hack who should've thrown it in years ago?
After watching this concert the second time I'm still yet to see the "magic" Brian Wilson can create in live performance. In the Queen's concert he had about 20 people on stage to keep the people interested because it was for majority of the crowd boring. Something an ex Beatle doesn't need to do.

Brian generally has himself, his backing group (the awesome Wondermints), a few musicians and that's it. What you saw on the Queen's Jubilee concert was NOT indicitave of a typical Brian Wilson concert. Also, he uses a few more musicians than most so he can fully recreate his sound onstage.
As I've said before, Brian is mentally ill. He has been from the age of 20. He suffered his first nervous breakdown at age 22. He's very heavily medicated if you didn't notice. Most of the 'magic' you're looking for lies in the simple fact of him being on stage at all. Ask your big hero Sir Paul, he has stated exactly the same feelings.
The magic of Brian Wilson is watching him sit there as the band starts playing, singing the first couple of verses of a song which parodies him (barenaked Ladies' "Brian Wilson") and laughing along, or listening to his touching tribute to his dead brothers, hearing the pure happiness in his voice as he rattles out a bunch of his best loved tunes.
Brian's alive, he's back on stage, he sounds pretty ****ing good and he's happy to be there. Us Wilson Cultists don't have many expectations of our hero. We know where he's been and what an effort it is for him to even be out there.
If he's not up to your standards then fine, don't go see him, don't watch him. You either hear/see the magic or you don't. Millions of us do.

Define a proper performance? If making bubbles in a bathtub aint, then a GG Allin-style on stage tossing session surely must be?

No, I meant seeing more than four songs before judging the man's entire career.

Well lioness you send me a tape and I'll watch it. I'd prefer one where you see him moving. I think they call it entertainment could be wrong though:rolleyes:

GG Allin, now there was a consumate performer. Bring me my body fluids. ;)
Lioness, you make Brian Wilson sound like a freak show, only there for the perverse pleasure of his 'legions of fans'. If the guy is so 'mentally ill' and 'heavily medicated', shouldn't you let him retire gracefully, or would that not be to his 'fans' liking?

I've seen many 'heavily medicated' 'artists' perform at various karaoke venues. Hilarity.

At the ripe old age of 60 (in a week) he's decided to embark on his first world tour........who are we to stop him?
All I'm saying is that you can't expect him to be as great as he once was.
Did any of you stop to think that maybe, just MAYBE, the voices are telling him not to move around???? ;)

I'd be happy to. :) I'm not saying you have to love the guy, but I'd be happy to show you that he IS actually a decent performer. :)
