Renegade, anyone?

It had to happen... TV thread time.

Got the 3rd season of The Office US from Amazon yesterday... just finished it. Fried Gold indeed:thumbsu:

Obviously I love Gervais' UK creation but this one really stands on it's own two feet. What, with this and Arrested Development, the Yanks are proving they can manage the offbeat nature of British comedy.

What are you guy's loving at the moment?

Oh, and two more sleeps til Heroes S2:)

Gee, couldn't have seen this thread coming, Mr.Wizard. Although in my head it was going to be the "Bring Back Noel Ferrier Action Faction", but that's okay.

Didn't Lamas get done for beating his wife ?

Okay, TV. I only watch Foxtel. Seriously. It's for a combination of reasons - poor reception in my outer-suburban location, a lack of love for excessive advertising, and the distinct sense that I am not missing much. But there you go.

Anyway....keeping it current as I believe was the stipulation......I'm with pharro, My Name Is Earl is pretty cool. Usually try to catch The Colbert Report, too. Funny guy.

MTV (and the other music channels) continue to yield nightly delights. My current MTV faves - Next!, Pimp My Ride (long time fave), and the very, very wrong Date My Mom.

Can never get enough of The Simpsons or Family Guy. Foxtel accomodates that nicely.

Having a 4-year old, he hogs the TV a lot. His current channel of choice is Cartoon Network. So for you parents of little tackers who may be able to relate, and indeed be familiar with some of these cartoons, I don't mind it when The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy, Teen Titans, or Camp Lazlo is on. Oh, and of course, Scooby-Doo. Even if it is the new version.

And last, but by no means least, I continue to gravitate, like a moth to a flame, to any show with the words "....Next Top Model" in its title.

I actually went to buy a TV series the other day - I am a late blooming Spin City fan (thanks to Foxtel) and I couldn't believe it is not released on DVD. The one TV series in my whole life I wanted to buy and it hasn't been released.

Dont know if its been mentioned, but Lorenzo Lamas, was in Grease,
played the boyfriend of Olivia Newton John, at Rydell High, till John Travolta cuts his grass.
You know the guy who get his his foot caught in the football helmet, when the T-birds are giving him sh1t, thats him.

Over the last couple of years i guess

Dramas

Deadwood
Oz (but don't watch it with a hangover. You become suicidal)
Sopranos

(I like Lost too, but it is frustrating)

Comedies:

South Park (it is on an endless loop on Foxtel - 1 in every 10 I seem to have missed, so I keep wathcing)
Summer Heights High (with a bullet - funny shit. Looking forward to many retard jokes over the coming weeks)
The Office (the original is easily better than the yank version, but I got to admit I have been coming around to it on Monday nights. It is just that the US Dawn really annoys me - the Gareth is good though)

Obviously Simpsons, and Seinfeld are in there.
I like Family Guy and Arrested Development, but can't say I love them. They tend to get annoying.

Scrubs is good.

I am into those Crime Investigation shows as well. The one with Lisa McCune was great and the other one with the terrorist warner that is on 9 at the moment - the back packer murders was a good watch.

Anyone seen Balls of Steel on Foxtel?
Strangely enough a man dressed in a devil suit throwing dogshit at random people in the street is pretty funny.

I don't have Foxtel, so there are only a few things I have to watch when they're on:

Top Gear
Oz
The Sopranos

The rest of it I can take or leave. I find it remarkable that I can happily sit in front of a Simpson episode that's over a decade old and that I have surely watched 100 times without changing the station.

All time, The Office stands clear and untouchable. The Mighty Boosh is a current favorite (TOD would love it) and The Simpson is of course, genius. Favorite drama is The West Wing followed by The Sopranos. Both stupidly good.

I love Pimp My Ride but only the American one. The English one, with it's references to Canterbury as the "hood" was just a little too much.

For me it's always and will always be about Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Though I'm an awfully big fan of Doctor Who too. Also loved Drop The Dead Donkey.

Aside from that I watch:

Cheaters :D
The Chasers
Family Guy
The Bill
Futurama
CSI (NY and Vegas - Miami sucks)
Law and Order (any series)
Masterchef Goes Large
Property Ladder
Location, Location, Location
Maury Povich

I'm also busy finding internet petitions demanding Metal Mickey be released on DVD.

Yep. Second that. Lovin' it.

Family Guy and Arrested Development, but can't say I love them. They tend to get annoying.

"The Family Guy" is not annoying.

Talking of animated stuff, I can't say enough good things about "Drawn Together". Top show. Sick and hilarious.

Scrubs is good.

"Scrubs" is shit.

Anyone seen Balls of Steel on Foxtel?

Did you see the one where he pissed off the people on the golf course ? Funny stuff.

Things I'd actually turn the TV on for:

The Office (UK version)
Extras (the first season)
ABC Wednesday night line up
ER (if someone could tell me where channel Eddie has moved it, I'd be v grateful)
Life on Mars
Sex and the City
Boston Legal

And things I would just watch, cause they are strangely addictive:

Bargain Hunt
Location, location, location
Americas Next top model ( / next big designer / next movie director / next mogul with bad hair - anything in the genre works)

That's the joy of Maury... watching people come up with the best excuses for why they can't be fathers ("I swallowed a birth control pill when I was 10, so I'm infertile" or "I can't be the father because I have magic sticks") and then their amusing dances when they're proven right. It's always a disappointment to turn on and find the "I was a geek then, now I'm hot" episodes...

Or a recent favourite where a guy was being accused of cheating on his girlfriend because 3 times he'd suddenly disappeared overnight... his excuse was that he was kidnapped every time. That's quality viewing.

As for Location, Location, Location and Property Ladder, I just adore watching the lunatic ideas people have and their ideas on 'budgetting' while the hosts just laugh behind their back (or sometimes to their face) at them :D

Ooh yes Grand Designs too, and Bargain Hunt are also in my must watches.

For me it would have to be the Mighty Boosh.

It is a British Cult Comedy about two friends who go on magical adventures. It has appeared initially as series of stage shows, then a radio series and now a TV series. it was created by Julian Barratand Noel Fielding, who play Howard Moon and Vince Noir respectively. The stage show has no strict setting, but the radio series and first television series are based around a zoo called Bob Fossil's Funworld and later The Zooniverse. Though the episodes would invariably begin and end in the zoo, the main characters would tend to leave the zoo for more bizarre realms, such as the arctic tundra and limbo. The second series had an even looser setting, based in a flat in Dalston. They are currently working on a third series to be aired in November 2007.

I dont know if all of you would like it, but im sure some of you would, very very funny show, alot of little funnies and things that are just so stupid, you just cant stop your self from laughing.

One character in particular makes me laugh, it is Naboo, who is a phsycic Shaman

A flashback. Prisoner featuring a few regulars such as Lizzie Birdsworth & The Freak, plus an appearance from Jane Turner (of Kath & Kim fame).

Most obscure line in comedy history...

"Everyone gather around"

"Not you, Naan Bread"

These would have to be my Two favourite quotes from Series One:

Vince Noir (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0276161/): Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard... Howard?
Howard Moon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1027986/): This better be good.
Vince Noir (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0276161/): You know the black bits in bananas, are they tarantulas' eggs?
Howard Moon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1027986/): Please don't speak to me ever again in your life.

and

Howard: Everything's fun for you, You see a peanut, the day's off to a good start, you witness some soil, it's a jamboree for Vince Noir.
Vince: I think it's this poncho...It's impossible to be unhappy in a poncho. I'm going to get a sombrero as well... Imagine that, a poncho-sombrero combo... I'll be off my tits on happiness.

Hear Hear. God that show's funny - the bit in the Christmas episode where all the priests are lost in the lingerie department makes me laugh out loud just thinking about it!

Yeah, I have love for both.

A little more for the latter though.

Soap was a gem.

(And also the deciding factor, as it turns out.)

I loved Newhart. I was just a tad too young for Soap though. Am I right in saying Benson was a spin-off of this?

Guys,
getting to be a big fan of this show 'Life' on ten.

Another story of Brit goes to the USA and gets rave reviews, stealing kudos from American actors.

The show is very clever, plays a little like House: On the Beat.:D

Whatever happened to Dr.Katz ? I liked that show.

And if anyone can profess to having watched an old classic 60's show called "The Rat Patrol", I will gladly buy them a shiny, new beer at The Captains Bar after a game next year, as we discuss the various exploits of Sgts Troy and Tully and co.

I was hooked on that show as a kid.

Yep.

But I'm confused as to why they let a man ("Heather") enter the competition.

I have to say though, "Shot Of Love" is where it's really at.

New show coming to Nine later this year. (Going into production next month in Melbourne)

Hole In The Wall

Although it's not a doco or fly on the wall look at glory holes, it will do well. Based on a Japenses format.

If you got a laugh out of MXC or Takeshi's Castle - you'll like this show.

Here's a look at the original version.

Anyone seen Balls of Steel on Foxtel?
Strangely enough a man dressed in a devil suit throwing dogshit at random people in the street is pretty funny.

There's a great episode where the hot chick tries to pick up guys who are clearly out on dates with other women. Gold.

They've done it a few times. Piss funny, and a scenario that genuinely lives up to the show's title boast. :thumbsu:

Love it.

And Takeshis Castle.

Love to see a return of "Almost Anything Goes" (but would gladly settle for "It's A Knockout"), only this time around with more of a Takeshi-esque emphasis on pain. But of course still with the daggy above-ground pool and everything.

That chick went into the Big Brother house here pretending to be an 'exchange' from the Aussie Big Brother.

Speaking of which, I'm currently in talks with a major network who are interested in my concept for a new show combining ex-reality show contestants, with the movie "Hostel".
