I don't want to lose Kennedy but being realistic if we want Judd we will need to give up something we don't want to.
Judd is worth it.

When this falls through, how Carlton is JK going to feel?
BRRROWWNNNN
2 Oct 2007, 10:49
If this deal goes through, it will be the AFL trade week version of Daylight robbery
Basically Carlton will receive a player for the same pick as he went in his original draft year of 2001, it's just that he's won everything in the game in the meantime ;)
Kennedy has shown no signs of developing into a key forward of any note and to trade him to West Coast for Chris Judd and Pick 3 is the best possible deal for Carlton :thumbsu:
I, for one, hope it goes through as I'd much rather him at Carlton than at the Maggotpies :D
And for the Blues supporters; you can look forward to a 2010 centre square combo of Kruezer tapping down to Judd, Murphy and Gibbs  (all in their peak, or near abouts)

Judd is the best player in the competition when fit.
Whilst the Eagles will NOT get what Judd is truly worth to them in return for him, and they realise this, they will try and get the best deal they can, obviously.
It's an old cliche, but it's true-to get quality, you must give up quality.
JK will be, at the very worst, a good player for quite a few years. Whilst I would prefer to keep him and develop him in the Navy Blue, sometimes you need to make these tough decisions for the better of the club. If getting Judd means giving up Kennedy, then I would do it no doubt.

Thats a terrible deal for West Coast. Would imagine they would want pick 20 as well. Kennedy has not come on that well and would have lost value over the last year by not breaking into a poor side & impressing. The only bonus is he is from WA. Pick 3 will be the big lure, If west coast think they can secure Morton in the draft with 3 then they would take #3, #20 & Kennedy but without being too excited. The Pies have a bit more to offer than #20 & Kennedy but we can't compete with pick 3 so I think based on this the Blues are favourite to get him at a very nice price.

This is true but it leaves the door open for the Eagles to negotiate with others provided he has not given them one club only to deal with.

He effectively has only given them one club to deal with. His manager has ruled Essendon and Melbourne out and WC understandably don't want to deal with your mob :)

Its a buyers market. Especially now that Judd has chosen two clubs- one with significant bargaining power (Carlton), and one with little bargaining power (Collingwood). If West Coast want to try and play one of against the other, I think we can all see how quickly that will backfire.

Chris Judd will be a blue in 2008. The announcement will be made at 2pm today!!
West Coast have agreed in principle to take Pick 3# and Josh Kennedy
Judd had indicated that he prefered to join collingwood however a bold bid by the carlton football club has been able to convince him otherwise.
From an extremly reliable source says carlton will not offer any more as Judd doesn't want to damage the carlton list and potential future success.
Collingwood has moved against this information offer didak for pick 20 if carlton withdraw their offer to Judd who will paid 1.3M a year..

you are kidding yourself, Judd will play for another 8 years (he will be 32 at the end of that) and will still be a better player than Kennedy ever will be.
if the eagles take the offer, lets run with it, pick 3 and JK for the best player in the comp, great deal.
thankfully your not in our recruitment department, because Kennedy realistically has not shown alot to say he will be a 10 year CHF in the AFL

u people that think that this is a great deal for Carlton are on drugs. If this deal goes through WC have taken us to the cleaners. You are all overestimating the impact of one player. As Geelong showed us on the weekend premiership teams are made up of a number off very good players, u don't necessairly need a star like Judd. To give up a 10 year CHF (which don't go on trees) as well as pick 3 who is a 12 year player (And recent history suggests will be a very good player) + pick 20 for 1 player with probably only 6 years left and who has injury concerns. Then u have to factor in the salary cap implications for paying such a massive sum for one player. then there is also the concerns about his character after thsi fiasco of going around playing clubs off against one another, then saying that he doesn't care about money the whole time asking for 7.5 mil over 5 years. What a joke, i personally can't stand the sight of this guy and would love to see him at any other club but Carlton.

I suspect over Mitch Morton and taking Cale at #2. everything seems to be falling into place. We polish off our midfield with Judd, take kreuzer at #1 to polish off our ruck stocks, Richmond make a deal for MM then take Cale at #2, WCE get the kid they rank at #1 with pick #3 and a possible replacement for Judd in Cotchin.

Well that's very interesting speculation!
I wonder if people would prefer adding Judd, whilst losing pick 3, probably Kennedy and pick 20....or....
Leaving Judd alone, and possibly adding Cotchin, as well as keeping pick 20 and Kennedy.
I really like the look of Cotchin, and although he has a long way to go to reach the heights Judd has, I'd be very tempted to keep our list and TPP intact and go for the latter option.

Can someone please explain to me why Josh Kennedy will be such a great loss if he goes and we get Judd. Sure, he may turn out to be a very good player, but talk of 10 year CHF seems to be going way over the top on what he has produced on the field. Just an opinion.
If indeed the SEN report is correct () then i think the blues will have done extremely well. Best midfielder in the game for 1 unproven player and 1 draft pick, who while most likely will be a great player, will have to be damn good to be better than Judd

I think cotchin will end up being the best player from this draft. However i think what Judd will add to the club on and off the field is worth pick #3 and kennedy. You can feel that wave of momentum that we are really on the way up again.....adding two more of the top 3 juniors would help that, but landing the best player in the competition is enormous. Our reputation has been tarnished over the last 6 or 7 years and this will go a long way to fixing that. So as keen as i am on Cotchin, and despite what some people believe, I also see great merit in getting Judd. Geelong went with a two-tall forward line in the GF, and with Judd, Gibbs and Murph bringing the ball inside 50 for Fev, a lead-up CHF is not as critical to our team structure and will often be by-passed anyway. We could play a two-tall forward line or even have Fish playing as a mobile lead-up CHF. That is for Ratts to figure out. Setanta is a similar size and mobility to JK, he could even develop into a monster chf if we felt we needed one. Heck if you do land Judd, you might even be a good chance to twist my arm for the big fella at #1.

I can't give away too much...as i don't want to get anyone in trouble...
Part of the reason why he is choosing carlton is feels that collingwood supporters arn't up to scratch and doesn't want the additional media on him that eddie would bring...
Whilst the carlton faciltiies arn't crash hot...the improvement which are going to made will make it better than the lexus centre.
the biggest selling point is Richard pratt offer to spend money to help the environment.
Come one guys did you realise last week when Visy announced they were going to spend 1B in the usa, Brad Pitt was a supporter... Come on it was just a coincedence that announced was made around the same time...

Still nothing on SEN.
You'd think if 'people in the know' knew anything, there would be an announcement to let everyone know there was going to be a press conference. I'd imagine Carlton and Judd would like some media at the press conference, just to announce the good news

Yeah that actually got us to second last on the ladder....I can't remember who finished last though....would you have any idea who finished last?
I'm not prepared to give up a 10-year CHF for a 6-year midfielder. Not even the best midfielder going.
Now when you put it that way! :mad: :(:( :thumbsd::thumbsd:

Mate if you depend on the CFC website for any info you might want to know Ron Barassi has left Melbourne and will be captain coach at Carlton.
