Charlie Gardiner, Henry Playfair and Kane Tennace
The Cats indicated yesterday that they are prepared to discuss Charlie Gardiner, Henry Playfair and Kane Tenace. (The Age)

Is Geelong looking at getting rid of these blokes? Possibly keeping them in the future? What would you expect in return for any of them?

A bag of millet seeds. We'll throw in Spencer and Byrnes for some flint as well.

Deal.

The blues are willing to swap a bag of millet seeds and some flint
in exchange for the services of Byrnes and Tenace

We need to get rid of Playfair & Gardiner & don't expect anything in return. In fact we may have to throw in a drat pick as well to get them off our hands ;)

Hopefully Geelong can squeeze out a second round pick for Tenace, but we won't get jack for either Playfair or Gardiner...

I'd say that no club will trade for Gardiner, instead they'll pick him up in the PSD. I could see Gardiner ending up at Footscray, Carlton or Richmond.

What's been going on with Tennace, lightning quick if I remember correctly?

Yep Richmond are vulnerable. They did take Kent of four hands after all!

Lets keep Tenace. Played good midway through the year. He may come on as well as Mackie did and I believe he has the talent. Plus we don't have much depth in his type. eg Woj injured tenace comes in.

Exactly. It all adds up.
With The Great Man, Richo, nearing the end of his career and no real prospects on the Richmond list, the tiges need kpp's. Plus Supercoach Terry Wallace has been exposed to enough solarium rays to convince himself that he has the coaching ability to resusciate Gardiner's flagging career.

If Tenace is on the scrap-heap, I'd be very surprised if Sydney didn't offer some sort of token deal, like pick 60 or something. Roos expressed interest last week. I realise that wouldn't actually give Geelong anything they'd want, but it gets Tenace to a new club. The Mattner deal probably makes Tenace unnecessary, but if he's only going to be delisted anyway I'd be surprised if Geelong didn't help him get to a new home.

It seems the club has decided it's time to shake the list up a bit.

I reckon that the Crows might be interested in Tenace

Yep, from the sounds of it he'd make a pretty decent replacement if Tenace was traded.

Not sure whether we'd want to hold him - too many years of potential and not enough to show for it from Kane. Henry and Charlie wont get us much, I'm afraid. If we're lucky we'll get a high draft pick for them.

If Tenace worked on the accuracy of his disposals he'd be a keeper

That's a pretty big "if"

i thought that they were far better this year. He's a better kick than Corey. When he was drafted he was known for his pin=point passes. Wonder what changed

Is it ridiculously sentimental of me to feel sad that these guys might all leave? I always had hopes for Tenace, and one the things that gave me real confidence all year was the depth of our list. Tenace was part of that depth. Charlie and Henry... well, they're not much chop, but they're still OURS. I wouldn't want to see them pulling on other colours.

Why are u not coughing Andrew Carrazzo??? Also why arn't Carlton coughing Justin Murphy??? We have had some pretty stupid decisions so lets not forget that.

Ronnie Burns for Ben Finnin springs to mind.

I wouldn't consider Carrazzo a stupid decision, we knew he was a good player, as we do with Callan, but he could not break into our squad, congrats to him on going on with it at Carlton.

I was referring to Clarke's pace and poor disposal, very similar to tenace.

There has been a bit of chatter that the Tiges are interested in Playfair because he can play as KP backman or Forward.....the tiges are doing all they can to go for B2B spoons next year I see.

meh! I thought I was being generous.

Well Spencers dad might come after me like he did to another poster (Hulkster I think it was) a year or so back.

I'd keep Playfair myself. The bloke is a handy backup backman and coul dplay forward if need be. Gardiner wont get back with Nathan, Steve Johnson, etc there however. Tenace could easily be replaced if need be with Prismall.

Haha, I just had a look at some old threads. Very funny stuff.
I think it was The Hoff that Spencer's Dad had a go at though...

Nah, I get what you mean, I feel a bit sad that they're leaving... I liked Callan as well.

There was more to that trade than just getting Finnin. Geelong wanted to free up space in the salary cap. Ronnie had 1 or 2 years left to run on a contract made of gold. So Adelaide took that off our hands.
