After watching Fav's season highlights vid a couple of things stood out.
1. MM is relying on a rotating midfield, which also means he is relying on a rotating small fwd line.
2. This means the small fwds need to be able to perform better as midfielders.
3. Therefore IMHO these players need to really improve in the midfield.
Alan Didak, Dale Thomas, Leon Davis and Paul Medhurst.
My point is they showed flashes of genuine midfield ability this year, (with the exception of Medhurst but especially Didak in the finals) however the consistency that comes from being able to reliably execute that complex game plan week in week out still eludes them over the course of the year.
Will these blokes step up even more next year and really nail this, or have they pretty much reached the limit of their abilities as far as the footy smarts required for mid field play goes? Supplementary Question: If they are at the limits of their ability will a real ruck add the 5% required to make top 4 and have a real crack at the finals?
