how would you guys feel for a trade of thornton and carltons 3rd rounder for your pick12?
or if you prefer Bentick instead of the 3rd rounder

That would be awful. Thornton is not that good, he is a third tall who is not that good one on one.

If it happens it will be for boyle, but im still not sure if i like that trade. Boyle has way more upside then Thornton.

I doubt we'd put the first round pick on the table.

Thornton + Bentick for Pick 12?

Bentick - another midfielder.. don't really need!

Thornton - worthwhile.

Nah! ;)

Ah, no.

Thornton isn't worth a first rounder - and adding Bentick to the mix probably makes his trade value worse. :o

then why do you keep bloody chasing him for? LOL:rolleyes:

i reckon carlton prefer thornton over Boyle anyday

good defenders > the marking 3rd tall forwards these days - carltons forward line is already very good - it's there backline where the issues lay

Thats the point.......Thornton is not a good defender. If he was why would they be looking at trading him after signing him up to a big contract last season because we looked at him.

they aren't - you enquired about him again - and they are listening.

i don't know if u have heard - but apparently carlton are trying to trade for chris judd - so i'd imagine they would be listening to many offers on many of theor players at the moment - of it helps land chris.

Thornton is one of my worst players at Carlton....always pointing the finger at fellow backmen and having a sook. He is not as good as he thinks he is.

That said, I would be happy to trade him BUT not for Boyle, who has had one good season...after being on the Hawks list for about 4 years.

The above was posted on the Blues board, by a blues supporter.

Screaming at own players was also mentioned.

Do we want a player like this? I think not

Very valid points there. Do we really need another Danny Jacobs type? I thought we were after a full blown full back, not another half-decent defender to take a 3rd tall. A nay from me. Pick 12 could be anything :thumbsu:

Do you really believe we are interested in Thornton? IMHO No. He is a hack. I may look stupid if a deal is made but IMO this is Pelchen trying to open an old wound to get some serious interest into trading with Hawthorn.

As reported 6 clubs are interested in Boyle and most clubs will not put a serious offer unless a club is seen discussing/chatting/dealing with Hawthorn. If another club sees Hawthorn dealing with Carlton, they may offer a serious deal for Boyle. Thornton is a smoke screen and nothing more. Pelchen will stretch the discussion until Friday.

Remember we still have Jacobs and we are not in a desperate need for a 3 tall defender.

Once again, on the 11th hour on Friday Pelchen will either accept or decline other clubs offer for Boyle. Hopefully a 1st round pick or an early 2nd rounder.

Yeah I will call hawthorn and tell them not to chase him. I think Hawks supporters dont rate Thornton too highly because we (i know i did) watched him a bit more closely this year after what happened last year. We dont need to waste talent and picks for defenders types that we already have. We need to have a good trade for a genuine full back

NO, NO, NO. A thousand times NO!!!..Watched Thornton a lot this year, only because we wanted him last year. Not worth trading for, IMO. He had more points kicked against him than any other player in the backline. Doesn't say much about him. I can't understand why the blues wanted to keep him last year. They wanted to keep him right or wrong. I note this year they are happy to trade him!! Sheesh, can't understand them..
I, for one, don't want him at our club, and I didn't want him last year. Was happy when the deal was rejected..

As we have alot of forwards in progress, we can afford to offload Boyle for Thorton, Then maybe Pick 13 for Buchanan, then pick 29 & Ossie for R Hooper. We have enough young kids at the moment yet to debut so we can afford to let go some picks this draft.
