I was meaning to bring this up a while ago, after reading some newspaper articles after the game regarding injuries to our players during the GF.

I know players are quite often playing with some form of injury but was interesting to not that Jimmy had an issue with his thumb, which he said he couldn't give high fives to the fans after the game, as it was hurting the much. Amazing the commitment he still showed during the game.

I also read that G. Ablett broke his big toe in the first quarter, now I'm pretty sure a broken big toe would have to blood hurt. May have explained why he wasn't at his dominant best, but still played a great game.

Add to that Stokesy looking like he'd done his knee badly early on and Mooney's hand looking mashed at the end of the game.

Either the pain-killers do a bloody good job, or the boys were not going to let anything get in their way and were prepared to put up with anything and put their bodies on the line for the GFC. Top stuff!

Cornes was suffering from a swolen head sustained the week before. Courage.

I heard this somewhere too but I think I also heard that the Geelong doctor said he didn't know anything about that (when asked after the game sometime).

Is this just a myth or did G.Ablett actually break his toe?

He was quoted in either the Addy or the HS as saying that he broke his toe, still have the article at home.

Whats with Mooneys hand?

Was strapped up during the game and was in a cast type thing at the B&F?

Think it might've been the split webbing from the week before that kept bleeding.

Ironically at the same time Tredrea was having pillows strapped to his back. Coincidence?

I do remember hearing that he had surgery in the week following the game.
