Don't mind a few funky phat beats. Starting to like that loopy **** they play at Seven (Drum and Bass). Easy to dance to as no one really gives a **** what you do to it. Won't listen to it at home though.

i could write an essay on this :D

I love electronic music.

My favourite genres would be Trance, Drum n Bass, Jungle, Techno and House. I also quite like some funky stuff. Cant say im a fan of Breakbeat...and Hardcore is just crazy.

I love heaps of stuff which ranges from
NRG: not the cheesy stuff, but just a constant beat with a LOT of grumbling low bass. Nick Sentience is the king of proper non-cheesy NRG.

House: Progressive, Dark House, Deep House, Acid House, Anthem House, Detroit House. Love all of them. Especially Deep trance, mature music...the sorta house music they play in posh clubs like Savvy and Soda Room.

Trance: anything slightly trancey and im bound to love it. Especially Progressive trance. The best trance song ive ever heard is The Darkness by DJ Wag. DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!!
Goa Trance rocks as well...especially at raves. I love my epic/anthem trance..Utah Saints/Digweed/van Dyk etc etc etc the list is endless.
Tech Trance...another genre i could listen to for weeks on end.
Deep Trance (Center Point by Menage a Trois) is another ripper genre.

Jungle/Drum n Bass - lurrrrrrrrrrrrve it deeply. Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, MC Conrad, Dillinja, Q Project, EZ Rollers mostly.
Anyone else seeing LTJ Bukem, Conrad and DJ Suv while they are in Australia??? They are playing in Adeliade next Friday and i got my ticket and it will be awesome!!!

Breakbeat: some breakbeat. The only breakbeat song ive ever liked is Ass n Titties by DJ Assault. 2-Step is pretty cool also.

Techno: I dont mind a bit of bangin techno every now and then. Frankie Bones, Underworld, Joel Mull, 3 Phase, KLF.

Thats about it.

If you want the best and funniest dance music site to look at then go to:

Ishkurs guide to Electronic Music (http://www.ishkur.com/features/music/guide.htm)

takes about 10 minutes to load cos it has samples of every type of genre and sub-genre there is....but its a classic. And its good cos you also get to know what genres you like and hate...plus his explanations of some genres is classic.

i got heaps of dance cds at home....especially lots of live sets from the likes of Digweed, Joey Beltram, Sasha, Paul van Dyk, Chris Lawrence, Timo Mass.

my favourite cd of all time is Sasha Ibiza 1. Awesome cd.

Thanks,

That site is very good,

I have a wide range of tastes in the genre but I tend to be really mainstream, I only really hear what gets handed to me on a platter by Ministry of Sound etc.

I tend to be on the Chemical, Big Beat and Jungle side but I find Garage to be too urban/hip hop?

Thanks for the tips Macca... i am getting a bit long in the tooth and i aint "with it" like I used to be. I will have to go and download a few...

Love the Sasha and Digweed Northern Exposure stuff and the Renaissance CD's...

For Prog House, trance etc...a BPM from 128 to 134 is usually the tempo that I get most in sync with.

Digweed Bedrock disc 2
Independence Night

all really spacey type house...its good stuff!

Yup thats the one, thats no.2 tho. Sasha Ibiza 1 is three times as good.

I got Sasha live at St Ives which is pretty funky...also Sasha & Digweed live at homelands which kicks arse.

So much good live stuff out there!!

hey Macca... re: breakbeat
downloaded DJ Assault's A & T the other day and saw some of the other titles he had out there and i would have to say it was a bit on the crude side... I dont think I am being prudish but I cant imagine the ladies (well the ones i know) really getting into it.

Some of my favourite breakbeat stuff is the Plump DJ's gear eg: "No Way" & Electronaughts "Bumper"

For sheer diversity of styles and brilliance: Leftfield's "Leftism."
I have no argument with it getting voted the best Electronic Album of All time... the thing is about seven years old now and it still sounds fresh.

...and a big shout out to the Chemical Brothers who first got me hooked on the stuff in the first place when they released "Exit Planet Dust"... things were never quite the same after that.

i was privileged enough last night to go and see LTJ Bukem (who is in my opinion..the best drum n bass DJ around), MC Conrad and DJ Suv (part of the roni size/reprazent crew) at the Tivoli Hotel.

All i have to say is....it was the best concert/rave ive ever been to.
Was in the carpark at the time that Bukem and Conrad arrived...somewhat surprised they drove there themselves...so got to talk to them for a while in the carpark....then Bukem played the best damn moody drum n bass ever, with MC Conrads hypnotic voice over the top.....then DJ Suv finished off the night with some hard drum n bass. Two absolutely faultless sets, no mixing errors or anything....absolutely sublime. After Bukems set he came down near the crowd and spoke to heaps of people and signed peoples shirts. I got my shirt signed by all three.

7 hours of the best drum n bass ive heard.
Best gig ever!!!

Ditto. Some nights you go out and that's all you wanna hear, but I can't see myself buying any of it for home. To me it has it's place in clubs, but I'm not sure I'm ever "in that frame of mind" when I'm at home.

I've got a few Gatecrasher and MOS cd's but they're a bit of a mix of everthing aren't they?

They are usually Live recordings of DJ Sets from the actual Gatecrasher and MOS clubs in the UK. They are based from the latest sounds and rarely play older stuff.

I love Dance Music with an absolute passion. I prefer big, funky and blockrocking beats as I used to play the drums for over 10 years; I guess that is where it comes from.

I have seen The Chemical Brothers a few times, Basement Jaxx, Fat Boy Slim and Van Helden all live and prefer this music to other forms such as Rock and Jazz, funk etc. (although I still have a lot of time for them).

My favorite artists would be Bob Slinclair (more funk) Fat Boy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Cassius (a French outfit), Chemical Brothers, Groove Amada, Armand Van Helden and some Moby songs (such as Bodyrocking).

The Ministry of Sound CD is as good as it gets and has brought a lot of publicity to the Dance culture. I can even cop some "softcore" dance in Paul Mac and Madison Avenue.

I mostly go too places such as Salt, Seven, The Loft (go there Drew, the women are hot and they aren't all space cadets like at Seven!) The Room and mellow places such as The Bond Bar to hear trancey/funky/beats music.

Don't mind more "hardcore" stuff by Van Dyk (Binary Finary), Cox and Jeff Mills (caught him at a concert once) but it may be a tad less "commercial" for my preference.

Dance Music is also the only music I will get up too and actually dance too (!). The Disco Biscuits might help with that;)

Almost identical to my tastes.

Fatboy Slim is awesome.

Love electronica! First got into New Order about ten years ago and branched off from there....Absolutely love Leftism, actually had that on in the car this morning on the way to work! Chemical Brothers & Fat Boy Slim are good to listen to at home, but I found them a little ... detached when I saw them live. I dunno, just seems like they've been touring too long and are just going through the motions. IMHO.

Anyone like Jungle? Got Goldie's Timeless a few years ago and loved it, went and bought Saturnz Return and it's almost as good. Which is saying something. Saw Goldie at the BDO and in a solo gig at the Prince of Wales (st kilda) but I was too bonkers to really get into it that night.... ;)

Dunno if Massive Attack count as 'dance' music, but they're definitely electronic, and Blue Lines is my All Time Favourite album.

I'm quite into 'cross-over' kind of music, like the Happy Mondays and Stone Roses. Saw Jamiroquai in 1994, very impressive, but gone off his disco anthems now. Preferred him when he was a little more funky. Loved the Big Beat thing a few years ago, but it's a bit old now. Bought Moby's Play but never listen to it. Heard every track on tv now!

Northern Exposure is a classic. I bought 'Communication' by Sasha and Digweed about a year and a half ago. Not as good, but great smooth trance.

That's all I can think of right now....more will come I'm sure.

Same here.

New Order got me into electronic music with Blue Monday. The new remix of this song is a fair piece and now I can even cop Kylie's lastest offering because it has a sample of Blue Monday mixed into her song.

Yeahhhhhh...."Can't get Blue Monday out of my head"

Wasn't sure if it was a mix of the two songs or what. Is it good?

Fatboy Slim is awesome.

His live album recorded @ Brighton earlier this year is a tribute to his talents as one of the worlds best DJ's. The way he mixes such a variety of music from The Rolling Stones to the Chemical Brothers is a reason why he is so popular.

"Hardcore" dance fans only knock him because he has become so commercial.

I actually have a CD by an Artist named 'Pizzaman' aka Norman Cook.
I also have the Freak Power CD.
I have not got the Live @ Brighton Beach one yet, heard some of it, sounds good.

Another good remix album is his 'On the floor at the boutique' album. Many unknown artists on there, but Norman makes them sound so mainstream.
