For me, when Maxxy smacked that one from 55m out to put us 35 points ahead, I didn't think we would lose from there.

When we started winding the clock don with 3 minutes to go, I turned to my son and said, "We always lose when we try to do this!":)

I played it safe and only thought we had it in the bag at three quarter time.

I was the same. About halfway through the third I started to relax.

Well, almost.

Mooney's first goal in the third quarter.

If Port had any hope of coming back from half time, that goal was what really stabbed that hope in the heart!!! I went fairly nuts after that. That was when I was 100% certain and started enjoying the occasion.

Rookey's goal was when my confidence was starting to grow. Although I still had that bad feeling in the back of my mind.

When Joel Corey smothered that Collingwood douche in the prelim. When I saw that I knew we were too committed to lose the next week, especially to a club as flaky as Port Adelaide. As for the actual day, I didn't consider it in the bag until we were about ten goals up and I realised that Port had only kicked three or four for the day and there was no way they'd come back. That's when I really uncorked.

Every time we've stated well this season we have gone on to win (most times quite comfortably), so at 1/4 time i was pretty confident we'd hold on. But I let loose sometime during the third quarter, so much so i got my ugly mug on TV :)

When we beat Collingwood in the Prelim.

Agreed, was concerned before the Collingwood game but never had a doubt at all about the Grand Final.

After we beat Collingwood I was always confident we would win.

In terms of when during the actual game, probably about half way through the second quarter I turned to the person next to me and said, "..they may as well start engraving the cup!!"

Yep Pettigrew was the defender, who ironically led the draft camp in sprint times IIRC.

There was no coming back for Port from that moment, because it was so unlikely.

Haha - when did she sing?

Was the 8 minute mark of the second quarter actually. :D One of the earliest times I've heard her sing in a match, though I remember once someone was telling me she has actually sung after a team scored the first behind once. :p

Correct he did! Ottens at just a mere 6'10" and 110kgs was just a bit quicker though! He is a super star!

Knew we were on when Ablett intercepted the pass and kicked the goal..

Knew we were close to unstoppable when Max Rooke kicked that goal early in the second..

Knew the game was in the bag to a point of no return when Mooney kicked the first goal of the third quarter.

I think realistically when Mooney kicked the opening goal in the 3rd qtr.

During the year there were some critical decisions around the club which set the framework for an outstanding year;

1/ Tom Harley appointed as our leader
2/ Discipline handed out to Steve Johnson (questioned by some in the media as too hard - but when you look at WCE lack of discipline I think you have the answer) - sent a strong message to the rest of the competition (we no longer tolerate)
3/ Appointment of key new fitness personnel
4/ After 3-4 years of dancing around the Steven King problem the club finally made the right decision and dropped him for an extended period.
5/ Players spoke out and pointed the finger at those on the senior list - Mooney and G Ablett repaid the group ten-fold
6/ Brenton Sanderson had a big influence and is very highly regarded.

Half time. We had been too dominant to let it slip by that stage. Port were shellshocked and we were just running all over them.

Rip the audio from the DVD 2nd release that has the 4 or 5 radio stations on it.

On the day, didn't feel good about anything until 3 mins into the second half, when finally allowed myself to believe we would win. Watching the replay that night (after taping it), it pretty obvious was all over 15 mins into the first quarter and the Ottens run-down was the sign it was going to be a smashing.

Done that, I have been listening to the 5AA blokes on the mp3 player coming into work, great listening to their cocky arrogance and outrageous hope slowly turning into despair as they come realise that the cats are just in a different league.

Had to laugh when Moons chipped the ball wide to SJ to kick our 2nd goal and the commentator on 5AA said it wasn't a good kick.

Fair dinkum, those guys have no idea.
