Hi guys,
Just bought the GF DVD the other day and was surprised at the lack of quality of the picture. Not sure whether it is just the copy i got, what do the rest of you guys think? Definately not as fluid as the tele broadcast, was pretty disappointed actually but want to make sure its not just my copy.
Opinions please. Thanks alot.

Mine skips a fair bit during the post-match celebrations.
I was in Big W the other day and it was playing on a TV, it was pretty crap quality...

Mine is very good too. But it is the Offical AFL job.
Have you bought a cheap and nasty copy?

Yeah, I thought the quality wasn't that good either... its probably because dvd resolution is worse than the hd broadcast (1080i I believe).
The sooner they start bringing the games out on hd dvd or blue ray the better.

I watched mine on my laptop, would that affect it? Haven't watched it on TV yet.

The irony is that you won't notice the crappy quality if you have a crappy tv... its probably because his tv is too good that he notices the poorer quality..
Happy with my copy, I waited two weeks until i found a copy with the extra audio commentaries.

I bought a copy from the club the day after the grandfinal. My copy was bad in that it's about 2 seconds faster so it runs to quick..I know we played a fast game but no way were they playing that fast.
The club told me to return it & they would replace it in which they did but guess what....the new copy is the same.. I give up..

My copy (multiple audio tracks) has poor picture quality too.
I didn't think the quality was that great, the picture seemed very "bright" or "white" compared to my recording from the TV. I have a plasma, but not HD, ah well, I'll have to wait until I compile my own DVD from all of my recordings.

Was it just me or did anyone else think that the aspect ratio was out of whack (on a standard tv)

Mines fine. Have watched it on my 80cm TV but can't wait to watch it on the Tv I'm getting in the next month or so..... 127 cm widescreen plasma. The players will look like giants on that thing.

I have just got a new plasma and the dvd look really crap on it - mainly the normal side ground shot - the players look like they have halos around them. Close up shots and stop shots look fine.
Someone has really stuffed up - But i dont care cause it still shows the mighty cats destroying the power
I wonder if they will actually come out on HD format.
I would suggest downloading the HD version from torrent

Might have to wait until next month to download it.... already used up a fair bit of bandwidth this month (dang music is goooood) ..;)
I heard a rumour that www.ishunt.com might be good to find the HD version?

No... the downloaded hd copy is better than the dvd.. my bloody xbox hasn't got the processing power to play the hd content though...
Mine was good quality until it skipped a couple of times during the Barry Stoneham interview durinmg the last quarter and a couple of times during the medal presentations

I had two, the very first edition and the multiple commentary edition - the former skipped a heap but the other one didn't.
Was a bit disappointed there wasn't more pre game/post game coverage but there you go. Also the halftime stuff would have been nice. I missed all of that - I was there!

I watch most DVDs on my laptop, and have ditched the standard player, and downloaded a free program called VLC player, plays all formats and tend to be able to play dodgy dvds, and scratched DVDs. Best decision I ever made.

See if that fixes some of the dodgyness.

That is not the DVD but CH10. Watching it live on TV the same jumps occurred...faulty camera I would say.
Mine is fantastic quality, but I have a good quality SD TV (Loewe) and not a HD TV.

I got my copy the other day, and the quality is indeed quite poor, particularly as I have a 42" TV.
Doubt they'll release a blu-ray version, but I'd definitely get a copy if they did.

hmmm - watching mine on our 32 inch tube tv it looks magnificent. Was really looking forward to seeing how it looked on the 50 inch widescreen plasma I'll be getting shortly but maybe I'll be disappointed by the sounds of it.. Haven't heard anyone with a large screen tv say it's looked good yet..

I've got a large screen TV, the last of the Grundig CRT tubes. I think it's 86cm. It gets digital free-to-air which looks heaps better than standard analog FTA and I reckon the DVD looks good. Maybe I'm not too fussy though anymore...

My 80cm LG CRT TV is still only on analogue and it looks great. You might be onto something - maybe we're just not as fussy as some of those who are saying the quality is shizenhousen?

Could be a combination of you not being fussy, as well as the fact that there is quite a breakdown in resolution when you move from an 80cm TV like yours to say 106cm like I have.
Compared to the HD feed I watched grand final day (even through significant beer goggles), there is a fair difference in quality.

I agree the quality is not that good but this is because compared to watching 1080i HD as was broadcast by 10 to the DVD quality which is 576i there is a big difference. This problem cannot be overcome unless you have a HD DVD or Blue Ray player. However the game is not available in this format so the quality of game day is not really achievable unless you do what I did and recorded it on to HD hard disk

my copy is a tad grainy around the players whilst they are in action. Looks like they have compressed the HD signal to make it fit onto a DVD. I'm not so interested in the viewing quality as the football quality :) Crackin' game by they boys. Scarlo ripped it apart.
