Mentioned:
Wanted to do the right thing in terms of talking to exiting players (i.e MJ)
Said that rumours of EFC being "hard to deal with" in trades was a fair assumption in that they were working for the best interests of the club and members - didn't want to trade for trades sake and was up front about that at the start of the week. Said that EFC had told Dyson that he was wanted in Knights' plans and then 12 hrs later Freo had offered 3 year contract. Said that at the trade table Freo didnt back up their exuberance for Dyson and Dyson had said in the end he wanted to stay at EFC...(hence 2 year contract).
In terms of trade week - he wanted to maintain the philosophy of brinng in another 4 or 5 kids into the group to add to the 6 last year. End result then being that we bring 10-12 good young talent in over a 2 year period
Again re-iterated that he wanted us to play an exciting brand of footy (not a dour brand - as our list doesn't align with that). He will focus on getting greater run through mid-field and tall running backs...
Said that he was optimistic but realistic about getting Brennan through the PSD....Suggested he may still end of with Brisbane anyway
Also re-ierated he didnt want EFCto be having "one put over us" at trade week in terms of picking up players for the sake of it...

I agree with his points on what he's targetting in the draft.
Quick mid-fielders (one current weakness), and tall running backs (will need to cover Fletcher and Michael in a year or two).

I was shattered when i found out that Knights had been signed as coach but im starting to warm to him. In the space of a few weeks he has done exactly what Essendon fans have been pleading for over the last few years and that is to clean out the dead wood and develop a young side!

Exactly, I know talk is cheap and he is saying what we want to hear ATM. But if he executes his coaching plans as planned, he will win many people over.
I for one am extremely excited about the unknown. With Sheed's you sort of knew year after year what to expect. But with Knighter coming on board, we'll have a new game plan, players hopefully being played in the positions best suited to them, it'll be fun times ahead.
Well done so far Knighter, you're heading in the right direction:thumbsu:

The tall running backs bit has me interested as I've heard this a few times now. We already have Lovett-Murray and McPhee who fit into that category and have quite a few years left. Does he mean KP ?
dont think so, perhaps he is planning to play mcphee on the wing or half forward flank

Only problem is that both butcher the ball on a consitant basis... To be at all effective in that pos, you need good skills, (think Bowden's, Shaw's, Kennelly's etc), so I hope he has someone else in mind.

Forgot to mention - he also mentioned the likelihood of Ashley Prescott joining the Bombers......

Did he say anything else about the assistants?
well again i say, knights is making all the right moves atm... and just sounds so excited about the list and our progress, so i can see why the players all seem to like him..
I agree with not trading bradley in the end for pick 54 (or similiar).. a pick that high generally does not yield a champion and it shows other clubs that if they want our players they need to put decent trades on the table, otherwise its the lottery of the psd. plus we now have a chance the doggies are apparently seriously looking at bradley which just increases the slim chance of us getting brennan.. win/win..

To be honest ,words never impress me . I look at the actions of people .So in the future we will see if making Knights was the right way to go .
Just teach the Bl##dy players to sprint .Thats his first job.
