appears the other thread was locked, not sure why but anyway i though the WCE supporters might like to know that country footy teams have alreadt been in contact with him

Apparently Victorian country football club Nilma Darnum (affiliated with the EDFL) has already been in touch will cousins and his managment about a possible move to rural victoria, if he is removed from the AFL this is straight from the horses mouth (our president) and the contract is rumoured to be around the 60K a year which equates to around 3 grand a game plus he will be put up in his own house and will be given a job with a local contractor.

Mmmm, very interesting.

Although, I don't think he would need a job or house set up. He is very cashed up don't forget. Just because he is a criminal, doesn't mean he will live like one. He would have enough cash to keep him afloat for a while yet.

Looks as though this rumour was spot on the money. Took this from the local paper (Drouin Independant)

Ellinbank and District Football Club Nilma Darnum look to have pulled off one of the biggest recruiting coups in the history of country football.

Andrew Patterson, president of the Nilma Darnum Football and Netball Club has announced the signing of a big name ex-AFL player, however he refused to eloborate further. Coach Brad Sinclair who himself once played AFL reserve grade football and last year he was the High Performance Development Coach at AFL club St.Kilda and Assistant Coach of the Casey Scorpions, was unavailable for comment when contacted. However sources close to the club were more than happy to sprout about their new signing. Club legend Jamie Cann had this to say "It is a huge development for our club to attract Ben, hopefully he is able to contribute to our team and we are able to aid him in his recovery."

Cousins, who is likely to be deregistered by the AFL next week played 238 games for the West Coast Eagles and was the 2005 Brownlow Medalist.

I thought that if he was de-registered from the AFL, he wouldn't be able to play in any of their affiliated leagues which are most of the leagues in Australia.

9 posts on this eagles thread & only 1 eagles supporter. I wonder why the rest of you bother to post this on here?

It would be his first ever wouldn't it?

Well this should either make him or break him. Maybe bring him down a few notches. Or he could very well just get on the piss with all the country boys :o

If Cousins plays country footy and works as a plasterer, what's to stop him getting on the piss and disco biscuits of a weekend? He would be doing exactly the same thing as most other country footy players, and I don't see why it would still be in any way the business of the public.
