Just wanted to see what you guys made of it.

I can see why they did it - publicity. And they are getting it in spades. I thought it was controversial when I was watching it but it didn't make me cringe.

I wouldn't mind so much if they were funny but the fact that it just wasn't funny just made it worse. And yeah everyone does have a point, it is pretty tasteless. I think you'll be hard pressed trying to find someone in support of them when it comes to this one.

Personally, I'm getting a bit bored of them. I think they're starting to believe their own hype which is reflecting on the quality of their work

i'm not one who likes low grade humour, but i dont see the big issue, everyone know what they are about and if you take them seriously its your own fault, i found parts of the song humerous, such as the brock bit, i mean cmon, just take it in the right context and have a chortle!

I thought it was actually pretty funny. Even though i did feel a bit awkward for the families, i was laughing

Hilarious! Andrew Hansen is a champ. Anyone who gets offended that easily should not be watching the show - it rips on people, minority groups and even the dead, hence; war on everything. :thumbsu:

I watch the show quite regularly but i didnt even smirk at the end of it. Didnt amuse me in the sightest and i wonder how people could be amused at it.

They will have 1 less viewer from now on.

Since it's rise in popularity, it has become shithouse. But i can understand people getting fired up about the song, i mean if your mother or wife died, how would you feel if someone called her a Sl.ut

To be honest Im getting a bit sick of the Chasers. I loved their first season and the stuff they did earlier this year, but it seems with the rise of their profiles that there not able to do really subtle stuff, everything sought has to be really out there if that makes sense. Seeing Chas in the first season get on the logies is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Also I love Chris Firth's cameo's cause of his unkown status in the States its just a lot more funnier

agree with the popularity stament here..............seems to me like they are trying to get a gig on m.t.v, they are trying way to hard now.

I did find the point they were trying to get across as meaningful but the shock value swamped any humour that could have come out of it.

At the end I think he was parodying himself as part of the joke hence Belinda Emitt reference (and they told him to shut up) but I don't think it came off that way for many people. They were just trying to be a bit too clever I guess.

I guess all humour's pretty subjective I found it funny when I was watching it.

I don't think they did it entirely for publicity - even when they only had the newspaper they pulled some pretty crazy shit like putting the PM's home phone number on the front of it and just after the September 11 terrorist attacks they had a photo of the twin towers collapsing with the headline 'Richard Branson publicity stunt goes horribly wrong'.

They've always had a pretty risque brand of humour because it was on national television this time there's a lot more focus on it...

Most overrated show on TV.

I found it pretty funny and didn't really cringe or anything. The Belinda Emmett bit at the end is probably the only bit I'd take out because she hasn't put herself out there with the big personality that all of the others had.

Probably the only 'meh' moment that i've seen of the show - Can't understand why the other tools are acknowledging it to be honest, its playing directly into the Chaser's hands.

Pales into comparison to DAAS and what they used to do.

that's why they "stopped" him. They were never going to do a Belinda Emmett bit.

I'd like to know the lyrics for the original song, given the fact it had to be watered down for TV.

If there was an original, i'd like to know too. Otherwise, here's the next best thing:

Yeah of course but I'd have just taken her out completely.

As part of the humour side of what they were doing they were trying to finish the skit off as a self parody i.e. getting carried away with themselves and the whole song (similar to Monty Python). The Belinda Emitt reference was part of the joke (as you couldn't get a person more opposite to a scum bag) but it just didn't come off as they had planned.

It was a bit similar to the salarium skit, they were trying to place the humour/blame on the salarium agencies. This skit was obviously in reference to Clare Oliver.

Unfortunately in both cases each girl was important to the joke and were not the butt of the joke but many people probably thought it was too soon to make a reference to either girl and didn't appreciate each joke for what they were meant to be.

Yeah I do understand all that but I suppose probably not the wisest move even though their intention wasn't to bag her. Doesn't mean I'm going to flood the radio with calls though like most of the other people with too much time on their hands.

Laughed my ass off the whole way through the song till he got to the Belinda Emmett part... then I kinda went "awww, too soon."

They're definitely losing their edge though.

They're spot on, nobody can say anything bad about a dead person, they have just proved it with the song. Loved how some old guy in the sun the next day thought they actually meant martin bryant will be remembered as a good bloke or whatever, completely missed the point

gee you'se whinge.. change the channel if ya dont like it because there are plenty of ppl who have the same humour as them but because of 'political rights' dont get to see many humerous things. just let it go.

This is an off-season sub-forum discussion and we'll probably have shit loads out of the way by the start of the next season... hardly a whinge mate.

Pupster, use your own logic. If you don't like it, don't watch it/leave.

It wasn't their greatest moment. It seems as if now they're trying too hard but last Wednesdays episode was one of the better ones I think. They toned it down a bit but was still funny.
