View Full Version : An Apology

To all the Richmond supporters I apologise.

I didn’t mean to point out how impotent your Club is. I truly didn’t mean to point out the facts that your team has done so little in 27 years. I truly didn't.

I realise now that there are 30,000 die hard supporters who are quite happy and proud to see that shiny AFL logo on their teams jumper. Each week their team runs out with hope of a victory. Only to be outscored most times after the 100 minutes is up. I now know it takes loyalty and blind faith to put up with such inept performances.

I also realise that this club prior to 1980 won ten VFL premierships. Wow ten flags that is something to be proud of. I guess those eight or nine current players that were born when they occurred remember that and keep uphold that winning and successful culture.

I guess I am just a bandwagon jumper of a Franchise team built on success and a winning culture. But since we never won any VFL flags we cant compare with the mighty Richmond of 30 years ago. Woe is me and Woe are the Crows.

I guess down at Tigerland 2008 is looking promising. There is always the hope of finishing ninth. And for most Tiger Fans thats a great year

Remeber stephen The club we support is inferior to Richmond as are any Non Victorian clubs, or any non big 4 clubs in vic, becasue Richmond were such a Powerhouse before 1980.

Did you possibly consider that we are doing something about it. That since we sacked our coach 3 years ago there are probably 5 or 6 players left in our starting 22 from then. That in this years best 22 we had 12 players 22 or under and only 4 28 or over. Yeah we've been shit for 27 years or whatever, get the **** over it. For the last 27 years, the club has been picking up these s*it middle age players, instead of teenagers, which is what we are starting to do now. This group might work, they might not, we don't know.

You know you're shooting yourself in the foot here you knob. Here you're saying that it is irrelevant that we won a few flags in the past, but you're whole stupid little theory is that we have been sh*t in the past. So you're theory is irrelevant then, since apparantly the past is. So is the past irrelevant or not mate.

Good to see your confident, but I guess confidence is not a "Richmond" thing.

Did i ever say i was confident or not. I just said that we don't know how we will turn out. Next year Geelong might win the spoon and the bombers might win the flag. Almost certainly won't happen but you or i dont know

I am guessing you where not born when your team won their last flag. Or your parents had not even met.

Either that or your grammer is a bit of a concern, especially after two bites of the cherry....

A little tip, that post was sarcasm....

The most common answer I got was, "You follow a Franchise with no History so what would i know".

History is important, but only if you learn from it and base future experiences on the things you learnt from the past. Otherwise it is just events that happnend in the past and that have no link to what you do in the future.

This would be the case for Richmond.

Hence Richmonds past success is irrelevent to the current club.

Ok fair post. First off, I disagree with that whole franchise thing, adelaide are a real afl club just like the other 15 teams, and just because you follow a young club doesn't necessarily mean you have any less idea about the game than anyone else.
Secondy, we are trying to rebuild. As i said before, we used to pick up a lot of middle age players who turned out duds. Now we are trying to bring young players into the club, and trying to develop them ourselves. Yeah, its taken us way too long to realise not to draft these middle age duds, but it seems, finally, we have learnt from our mistakes.

But their past 27 years of failure is.

Richmond have learnt from past mistakes and are taking steps to rectify this. While 2008 was unexpected it also served as a wake up call to some of those amongst the playing group that thought finishing 9th in 06 meant that finals were almost a certainty. Hopefully they take the pain they felt this year and use it as motivation to not have another season like it.

However if I was you I would be a little more concerned about where your club is heading, have lost 5 of your best 22 from this season, will be putting a fair bit of faith in the kids coming through to keep them up in the top half and could quite possibly find themselves sitting down in the bottom 8 for a few years to come.

Anyone who starts a troll thread at 6.30pm and is still hanging around past 10.30pm, checking for responses and replying in kind is a flog.

Anyone who is averaging over 32 posts per day to BigFooty is a flog.

Anyone who writes "Oh dear....;)" (see above) is a flog.

It's not looking good for you at this stage FlyingCrow.
