Which draftees have the best kicks? As a Melbourne supporter I want someone who can hit a target by foot. So who are guys that have good kicking actions. In other years, it would be Pendlebury, Goddard, Hurn etc.

I've heard Cale Morton is a great kick. I've seen Palmer kick the ball and I don't think his action is all that great, Cyril Rioli looks good, Cotchin supreme as well. So who else?

Set shots or field kicking.

Makes perfect sense since you traded away Travis Johnstone

You don't even notice the difference, it's incredible.

One name I'd like to throw out there as a nice kick of the football is Ryan Normington, there's a fair bit of class about that kid.

Callan Ward from the Western Jets is the best kick in the draft according to Champion Data.

Cyril Rioli is a beautiful kick particularly long.

Arrowsmith was terrific in the TAC GF when nobody could hit the side of a barn. But clearly the best in the TAC is Callan Ward. He also makes terrific decisions with the ball which is equally as important.

Actually Johnstone was never that good of a kick. Everyone thinks he is but if you look at the stats he is almost bellow average.

Normington is apparently a good kick and decision maker. The best kicks in the comp always seem to have both assets.

Ambidextrous is Cotchin. For as long as ive known him, since we were 15, he's been exceptionally good on both sides of the body. Fluent kick of the ball.

I'd second Callan Ward.

That's because he tries to pierce the needle and/or centre the ball every time he gets it.

Excellent kick.

Excellent kick.

Dreadfully overrated kick.

He reminded me of how Troy Schwarze tried to kick it - one metre off the ground and as hard the direct as possible. However, it was low percentage, and he seemed to miss heaps of targets. You could see how much it frustrated Neitz, Green and Robertson, not being sure if it would be lace out or nowhere near them.

My most lingering memory of Johnstone would have to be against the Western Bulldogs, when taking a kickout. He tried to kick the cover off it and stab it but jammed his boot into the turf instead. Turnover, goal.

Seemed plauged by inconsistency and was talked up by a lot of people who badly wanted him to succeed.

It's a super trade for Melbourne to get pick 14 for him. Brisbane could have survived without him, easily. They should have gone for another key defender with that pick.

We had the fifth best defence in the competition this eyar, with a bunch of kids. They'll be even better this year, plus we have players like Tyler and Garner developing.

Our defence is fine, just because you don't know anything about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
