Looks like The Amazing Race 12 may get onto US screens a bit earlier than expected, thanks to the failure of Viva Laughlin. No idea what this means for broadcast in Australia.

Just watched the 1st episode.
The usual mix of troubled relationships, bro and sis, 2 lesbian Ministers, a goth couple and a Grandfather and Grandson.
The non elimination legs have been removed which will shorten the series by 3 eps which is disappointing but all in all this is still head and shoulders the best of the so called Reality tv shows.

I think the first leg should be a non elimination leg just to give the contestants a better go. But having said that this series looks good and is of the quality we come to expect. The Goth couple were funny and lesbian ministers for goodness sake.

I don't think Kynt looks goth, more like a gay.

But how was that old chinese dude going off at his daughter and other people. That made me laugh. The poor daughter was coping it even being called too fat at one stage. Classic.

He is psycho. I feel sorry for her. He is a prick.

Grandpa/grandson team, eh? Interesting dynamic.

As for the Goths and lesbian ministers, well, the weirder they are the better I say. The last few have been lacking that real nutjob element that makes it so amusing when they're being harangued in India.

Also, because of the writers strike CBS has already commissioned the 13th season. Filming for that one starts in April. :)

I loved it when Grandpa couldn't pole vault over the creek and had stripped down to his y fronts, covered in mud and they finally felt sorry for him and let him through.

Oh then the cranky old chinese dude who was telling his daughter that every attempt to pole vault the creek was wrong and then when they get going on that bike with the wooden basket he dumps her on the road. he is a character

So does anyone know when, if ever, this is going to air in Australia?

I don't know. I think early next year would be most likely pre-torrent days. But now they may play it earlier before too many people see it.

Amazing Race Asia S02 is now off and running, the contestant pool is tweaked and now has various semi-celebs (models, sportscasters, VJs etc) as well as the normal folks. Including a couple of half-Thai half-Aussie hotties.

I also downloaded and watched the first three Amazing Race Brazil episodes but the language barrier was a bit much. I could pick out maybe every fifth word.

I wouldn't care too much about when AMs12 is shown here; it'll be at some stupid hour against a must-watch show. It's the one series that a) is suitable for all ages and b) kids actually enjoy watching, and c) is guaranteed never to be shown before 9.30. Pisses me off.

Do you ever think they will have an amazing race Australia. Us Aussies always seem to miss out on the decent reality TV shows (participation wise). Are they too scared that we will show the yanks up or something with a big of logic?

didn't the abc do an amazing race style show a few years ago?

I think they're spending a bit too much time on the purchase of airline tickets this season ... sometimes almost half an episode ... well, don't find that too interesting.

oh I liked that biatch in Africa that told boy/grandad team they had the earliest flight and then gave the next team an even earlier flight to them. You could see she did it on purpose.

I don't think it is necessarily too much airport scenes it is just where a few major stuff ups have occured that have cost people. Usually it is the cabbies that muck up peoples position in the race.

I agree. I don't mind which teams win as all three teams are good. I am just glad that that Nate never made it. He is such a prick to his so called girlfriend. He sooooo got dumped.

I just watched the 6th episode and I gotta say the black brother and sister were robbed. The brother clearly says he wants econemy seats but she still gives them business class.

The Asian dad is hilarious. Dumping his daughter out of the bike and telling her she needs to lose some weight was gold. And when she was doing the mud jumping thing he kept telling her to concentrate, which meant she couldn't concentrate, even stopping her in mid run to remind her.
