Not sure why I made a thread on this just thought it was intresting to see how were re building our list.
Out
Simon Godfrey
Daniel Ward
Heath Neville
Shane Neaves (rookie)
Daniel Hayes (rookie)
Ryan Ferguson
Travis Johnstone
+ retirees Bryon Pickett, Nathan Brown and Clint Bizzel
IN John Meesen
So that leaves 7 spots open + 2 rookie spots
We have picks 3,14,21,54,70,86 and whatever
meaning we have to take at least 2 players in the psd seeing as we will probably pass on pick 86?
That's a fair change of guard

Sorry to go off topic but thought it was pointless to start a new thread. Does anyone know when the 2008 fixture will be released?

What about Daniel Hughes, he is yet to be delisted or promoted, do we even know if Bode is promoted, or is he automatically because he was upgraded late last year?

I think its most likely Bode will get promoted but not sure about Hughes? Has he been on the rookie list for 2 years? If so why wouldn't they have just delisted him with Neaves if he wasn't good enough

Bode isn't automatically upgraded I'm pretty sure. He only got up cos of our long term injury list. We'd be crazy not to upgrade him though.

I think we'll upgrade Bode and get rid of Hughes. I want at least one pick in the preseason draft.

MELBOURNEfc List Changes
6:24 PM Tue 11 September, 2007
The Club today advised that Simon Godfrey, Daniel Ward, Heath Neville, Shane Neaves and Daniel Hayes will not be offered playing contracts for the 2008 season.
That just left Bode as a rookie, and I am pretty sure he will be promoted if he hasn't been yet.

Hughes is apparently a decent half-forward but it's hard to see him being promoted as I've never heard his name even coming close to senior selection.

Bode was promoted to the senior list after Rivers/Whelan/Yze were put on the long-term injury list. Hughes will have to be promoted after the maximum two years on the rookie list.

I've heard the end of the week.

Hughes actually seems alright. Hopefully cracks it for a game next year.

Bode promoted to senior list, Daniel Hughes delisted
So we now have 4 rookie spots and 6 spots on the senior list, unless we have veterans which somehow changes it where rookies can play without promotions and stuff like that.
Most likely draft picks 4,14,21,37,53 and then either 69 or PSD 3.

Whats the go with Isaac Weetra? Wasnt he a pretty high pick? i havent heard how he is going? what are his chances of playing this year? what sort of player is he?

Nah he was our last I think. 60ish.

So our best team would look something like this:
B Whelan Carroll Bell
HB Rivers Holland Wheatly
C Green Jones Sylvia
HF Bruce Newton Davey
F Robertson Neitz Yze
FOLL White McDonald McLean
Bench: P.Johnson Dunn Pettard Bate
Em: Bartram Maloney Miller Frawley
Its still a pretty good team i think but then again I am bias.
This team isn't including any possible Pre-season or National Draft inclusions.
I think Dunn is going to come on in a big way and Bartram will be gromed as the next James McDonald.
And my team is assuming Miller again does not make an impact.
I think our backline and midfield need a bit of a boost.
Also I hear there is a possibility in us selecting Sampi in the PSD.

There's no way Miller won't start. After the way the whole club were beating off over him during trade period he'll probably end up as f'ing captain

Holland has had some of his best games in his career late last season which is the reason i think he wasn't delisted.
He is perfect to play on the gorrillas of the comp like your roccas, gehrigs, etc. Im sick of all the Holland bashing that goes on, he fills one of the hardest positions on the ground that no one else in our team can... much like what Alastair Nicholson used to do and he copped it too.
He can also play up forward and take a contested mark, something we didn't see much of last year.
Rivers is not a CHB he gets out bodied by larger forwards, i prefer him as a floating 3rd man up cause his ball judgment and his reading of the play is impeccable.
Bring Holland in to play on the big boys, you cant question his commitment.

Agreed, he's good to play on the gorillas like Rocca and Gehrig (well, not anymore), but everytime he gets the ball, sheesh... :thumbsd:
He gives 110% sure, but his kicking lets him down.
Which leads me to my next point of Cam Bruce. :) Awesome player, could be a star, but he can't kick at goal for nuts... It's a pity really, he was on the way to a Brownlow before that St. Kilda game. :(
