mos tof the guys i rate there are crows players.
mos tof the guys i rate there are crows players.
I agree,
If we weren't rebuilding id have a slight interest in mark johnson.
Phil Raymond should have never been drafted in the first place.
By the looks of it all, im not really interested in any of those guys in the PSD. We would get jsut as much value out of using all or National draft picks
Rookie list pfeiffer if he is still around.

Clayton Collard
Darren Pfeiffer
Kepler Bradley
Cameron Faulkner
Clayton Collard & Darren Pfeiffer - if we could get their attitudes adjusted.
Todd Grima - was a good prospect 2 years ago when we grabbed Porps in the PSD, has done nothing since to lower his prospects.
Essendon: Kepler Bradley
Fremantle: Ryley Dunn, Clayton Collard.

Yeah there would be a couple that would be interested in but I think with the stance the club has taken with its delistings and what not we would be best to just pick up players in the draft. We seem to be looking at at least a mini re-building phase so we should attack it as hard as we can so it doesn't last too long.
Dunn, maybe Grima if the draft is short on KPP forwards..............then daylight.
The rest is rubbish.

It's going to last at least two more years, given that we still have 5 players aged 30+, Burton aged 29, and 5 unspectacular backboners aged 26-28.
In 2010, I expect Scott Stevens to be the oldest man on Adelaide's senior list - at the grand old age of 28!
I would suggest that it will take 2 years to turnover our list. The question then becomes, how long it takes for the youngsters to fully step up once the veterans are gone? On that one, your guess is as good as mine - but I'd be looking to the slow but steady rises of Hawthorn and Geelong in recent years as a guide.

You need to have an open mind. He had all the attributes that the crows once wanted. Tall Key Forwards are all the rage nowadays. He could turn himself around... you just never know...dare i say it - David Rodan

You cant bring someone who walked out on your club back in.
First of all, imagine how the players would react? Itd be open warfare.

yes thats a point, but on the other hand im sure all players understand the go home factor for interstate kids.
It would all depend on how Fergus trained over the summer. If he was tearing up & taking big pack marks, kicking bags of goals then I'm sure he could win the players over pretty quickly. However if he was mediocre once again - and the crows drafted him there would be trouble amongst the camp...

Im not sure players are all that understanding. Playing groups are tight knit, and it seems sometimes players wanting to leave is taken personally, just look at Hudson.
Thats without taking into account the little issue of Fergus Watt's 2006 career favourite moment in the St. Kilda magazine '2005 Qualifying Final against Adelaide'.

Is that for real? what a ****head if Fergus said that! Do you have anymore info of this? Ive never heard that before?
On the players issue - im sure it was said that the players advised Mattner to look elsewhere for better game time opportunities. As Mattner didn't want to leave.
So they obviously understand the AFL system is a tough gig and you could be better off playing for a club when you are going to get the most out of yourself...

It was a fairly big story at the time, im sure im not the only one that remembers it.
As for Mattner, theres a difference between a player surplus to requirement being traded and getting a better opportunity, and a player who is desperately needed walking out on the club as soon as posisble.

i see your point mate...well this is all just hypothetical talk anyways. the reality is that the crows (or no other afl club) will draft Watts and it looks like he will disappear off the map in a couple of years...

Other than Torney I'd be intersted in Trotter , he should have played heaps more games at the Roo's I've never seen someone dropped so much after playing good games. 21 years old top 10 draft pick some one should pick him up. Has some skills and is very good on the dance floor.

Actually - I'd agree with that. Crow-mo can speak with more eloquence on this, but I'd love to hear about how many early draft picks the kangaroos have chewed through in the last few years for little or no return. SOME of them must be good players who were ground down by the facilities.

And then there is the first round picks they gave up for Thompson and Hay.
I'd love for Port to pick up Thurgood.
Give him a one year contract, do not let him play but give feed him heaps of beef and force him to do gymwork 5 days a week.
The kid is very very impressive but boy does he makes some of the supermodels look fat or what?

I still can't get over 9 changes to the Crows senior line-up (12 overall)
whislt it compares well to the rest of the teams it must have been a long time since we have that sought of movement in our list.
These are IMO the only PSD possibilities for us.
Bradley, Kepler Senior Delisted
Collard, Clayton Senior Delisted
Faulkner, Cameron Senior Delisted
I think all 3 have significant unfulfilled potential. The most likely I guess would be Faulkner, but from what ive heard and read, perhaps Collard has the most upside.

I would have thought Faulkner was the least likely. Certainly had the least ability of the three, from what I saw of him anyway.

Dangerous thought there ........seriously quiet ...was a top 10 pick quality last year but no-one took him becuase all knew that he wouldn't cope away from WA - hence Freo got him.
To delist him after one season says the personality issues run deeper.
He you take the position on Pfieffer then Collard is an even worse case

As it turns out WW, Collard obviously didn't even cope in his home state either, so you're probably dead right.
Shame, because we're talking about another talented lad that just doesn't want to play it by the book.
We've had our share of dropkicks over the years so one would hope that the AFC would suss it all out before even considering him - he may not even be on our radar for that reason.
Bradley doesn't seem to have any such issues other than Sheedy trying to turn him into something he wasn't. Hmmmm ..... where have I heard that story before?? ;)

We have a pretty good overall presence in the draft. The key is getting the best possible player from pick 10; can't afford to fail with the first rounder again.

spot on we are yet to get one right yet with high picks like this.
the only one which springs to mind is Burton taken at pick #14? Am I right there?
edit- ah sorry i checked wikipedia it was pick #16 in the 1998 draft. thats a long time since we have nailed a decent first round draft pick.

Reilly is our other 1st round draft pick success.
ah yes I forgot about him. you would have to say he is more of a success than Burton was - as Rielly came from interstate and had to adjust.
Rielly was a pick 12 in 2001.
There seems to be a fair few players in the de-listed group that have had a fair reputation before they were drafted. I think my club might have a look at few of them. We have three reasonable picks in 15, 32 and 37 but after that we have rubbish picks, probably wouldn't hurt to look at another recycle. Did reasonably well with taking Edwards late last year.
Note to those earlier in the thread who looked at McConnell. He requested a trade from the Eagles to go closer to home a few years back so unlikely he will go interstate, if anywhere.

How quickly they get forgotten...traded pick 6 for Matthew Clarke to the Lions in what ever year.
Clarke gave us sterling service for many years.
