It looks like we'll be kicking the season off against St.Kilda at the Dome on a Saturday night. This is yet to be confirmed. The draw will be released by the AFL tomorrow.

Feel free to give your thoughts once it is released...

Not a good forst round fixture for us. The Swans are rather 50/50 against the Saints and we have a rather poor record at the Dome. When you add those 2 things together i really do not like our chances of victory.

which means it will just be another swans start to the season :) Bring on '08

We really struggle against them at the Dome. The difference this time is that there will be no Gehrig for the Saints. I'm sure Leo Barry is happy about that. He has copped some mighty pastings from Gehrig in recent times.

True.

Round One is going to be really interesting, not only with the Dempster/Schneider thing, but just to see how well our team meshes together with the new additions and the same old plan, with a whole new look.

& i'm seriously jumping about seeing Barlow through his first (hopefully amaaazing) season

:D

If we

a) struggle against the Saints
b) struggle at the Dome
c) struggle in round 1

this is actually a good fixture for us since it gets rid of three struggles in one go for a maximum cost of just 4 premiership points.

Looking at the last 12 games against the Saints we are somthing like 1 and 5 before round 11 and 5 and 1 after round 11 + finals.

While it ain't the case anymore, I would assume that we will be playing them in Sydney later in the year which works out well for the form line.

What we didn't want is an easy game first up at home that we may have dropped as per previous years.

While I have not heard anything to confirm, I beleive looking at other teams draw rumours that the four Telstra games will be West Coast, Collingwood, Geelong and possibly St Kilda.

It's also been rumoured that along with our first game against against the Saints at the Dome we will be playing the Hawks at the "G", and we don't play the Hawks in Sydney :thumbsd:.

Not particularly happy with the draw seeing as we only play at the MCG once next season. It's a bugger because I was planning to fly down to Melbourne on the weekend and experience first hand at the G... darnit. :thumbsd:

And wow.. versing Collingwood twice in the space of just 8 weeks. Its a tough draw, but god I'm excited. Could hardly wait and see our boys take on Schneider and Dempster. One of our defenders will be on Schneider, could be Bevan? :p

Let us never speak of that day, or the Collingwood matched ever again.
It took me months to get over it, and it still hurts a bit
