View Full Version : Any desire for a logo re-design?

I am not actually a fan of our current logo.

The design of the Lion is way too iconic and awesome to be squeezed into the "O". Would like a new design that features it more prominently.
And in my opinion the current use of a different font for the word "Brisbane" and the word "Lions" just over-accentuates the fact that our club was born from two separate entities. Time to move on and present a more unified front.
So yeah, I want the Lion featured more prominently, and re-do the text. Obviously maroon, blue and gold must be the colour scheme.
Unfortunately my computer art skills are non-existant, anyone want to have a crack, or perhaps call me a heretic for even suggesting such a topic?

This is my favorite and has always been my favorite, as much as the other one has grown on me I would love to see this one still in use.
I would love to play with font in the top part but like you Browndog I have no skills with this.

That design is much better, although the shield shape is a little outdated now, certainly something to work with though.

I actually really like the current logo. The only thing i wuld change is i think the 'Brisbane' font looks slightly like it is trying too hard to be "cool".

you arent a heretic i agree with some of the points you make :)
#1: the logo is definately too good to be squeezed into a tiny hole in the middle
#2: the font thing is not perfect, but i dont think its to highlight out origins from 2 places. i think its more just because 1 font would make the logo a little plain..
im not sure of an adequate replacement, i have all the membership stickers from 1999 til now stickered in a row down the side of my desk at my dads house, has it been the same logo that whole time? ill check them next time i go there :)

I'm in the 'keep it' camp here. There are far worse logos out there.
Where is that picture of Pikey and the ‘Game Over Joffa’ sign when you need it.

The lion in the centre of the 'o' looks ridiculous! it doesnt even look like its in the middle.
I agree with brown dog, 'Brisbane' looks a bit too etched for my liking, and makes it look pixelated.
The shield does look much better...
but thats my opinion

I like our logo and you all suck for suggesting a change.
I think it should be on the front of our jumper under the AFL or sponsor's logo.
However, I would like to see the design in the crest/shield logo in the oval shape. I hate the actual shield design - the white takes up to much space.

I'm not a fan of the Gradient effect and like TBD says the Lion, so big and mighty, should not be so small. The LIONS font is quite good but I really don't like the brisbane font.

Perhaps the club should be targetting the juniors... for membership and then their parents will just have to join.

On that note Dan, my almost 3yo can recognise that club logo, then shouts our "Brisbane Lions" before launching into the club song. Ahh the joys of parental brainwashing!
This (the logo) to me is akin to the clash jumper debate - It's OK but could be better.

Definately.
We have the most fierce symbol in the league in the Lion, yet our current interpretation appears to have been designed by a budding Tafe student, who enjoyed listening to Reo Speedwagon while sipping on RC Cola!!!
Terribly outdated.

I actually like this logo, but see your point about the lion being to small...Soooo, have come up with this idea, may or may not look o.k..and I am no good at art skills either........thought the BRISBANE could be lifted half out the top of logo..the LIONS half out the bottom, which leaves the middle for a big lion as the focal point of logo.....Maybe someone could put it together, just to see what it would look like..

I do like the logo of Football Club Copenhagen though. Simple.
Alpha Delta Pi, while very attractive, is too stylistic.
After seeing Geelong's new logo, launched yesterday, it is imperative we design a new logo:

Now if you ask me - that cat looks more aggressive than our tame looking Lion - it is a modern design that for mine is now the best in the league.
Time is now to re-launch something for next year - Can only hope our markting department get off there bums, speak to a graphic designer to come up with something alot better that what we have - Thoughts?

Agreed.
The design of the Lion is untouchable.
It's a choice of "classical" versus "aggressive". I'd go "classical" personally, for the timeless appeal.

Our Lion is regal, mature and has poise, power and bearing.
Though I like the Cats, this one looks as though it's pissing itself while backing into a corner.

Hello all, thought I'd add my two cents on this debate. The Lion and the Brisbane font are the 'graphic' bringing together of the Bears and Fitzroy, and while I like the thought of a re-design, I don't think we should tinker with it if it aint broke!
In hindsight, may have been a bit hasty with my desire to change the whole logo - as TBD stated the lion (as the one on the jumper) MUST endure, but it is that oval shaped logo/emblem that needs modification IMO - but, yes Lion in current format must stay - is anything stated in the club constitution regarding logo etc?
