***DISCLAIMER***
Only done the first four rounds and put players where I think they will go, or heard where they will go. The other rounds and profiles will be done later.

Round 1 Priority Pick

1. Matthew Kreuzer (Northern Knights/VICTORIA) - Carlton
Position: Ruck
Height: 199cm Weight: 91kg
A ruckman with surprisingly good mobility to go along with good ball winning ability. Was the stand out ruckman at the championships, earning AA honours in that position. Tap work is ok for AFL level. Kreuzer’s mobility gets around the ground very well. His opponents have had a hard time going with him as he has big tank to keep running. He can go forward as he is an excellent mark and presents himself well.

Almost set in stone that Carlton will pick up the best prospect of this year’s draft.

Round 1

2. Trent Cotchin (Northern Knights/VICTORIA) - Richmond
Position: Midfielder
Height: 184cm Weight: 81kg
Classy midfielder finisher type who is not without some toe. Backs himself and carries the ball when it is on. Trent has the X-factor, could win game of his boot. Reads play pretty well. Fantastic kick with both feet! Is vcrsatile -can play on ball, in forward line or in defence but will probably start his first year or two on the flanks. Only slight concerns would be poor championships (very well tagged) and injuries (not a major problem though).

Richmond will probably take the best available player and that being Cotchin. On the off chance that Richmond did make a “deal” with the Eagles they will look at Morton (highly unlikely) but Miller and his thieving ways would be looking at Cotchin all the way!

3. Chris Masten (East Fremantle/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) – West Coast
Position: Inside Midfielder
Height: 179cm Weight: 80kg
Inside midfielder who makes good decisions and is a genuine asset to have around the packs. Quick hands and a very hard worker. Was playing a fair bit of the season with OP. Chris has quick hands and good in traffic. Work around the clearances is brilliant. Chris was amongst WA’s bests during the championships along with Palmer and Morton.

The Eagles will take a midfielder with their first selection (Pick 3). Their preference being Cotchin, if he is not available then they will swoop on Masten. It will all depend on how the Tigers go with their second pick.

4. Cale Morton (Claremont/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - Melbourne
Position: Utility/Wing
Height: 194cm Weight: 79kg
Cale is a classy user of the ball and has one of the best skill sets out of the draft crop this year. Morton was named the best player of the under 18 championships this year for his excellent work for WA. Can go up forward and kick goals too as was seen in the WA seniors and Colts but not a crash and bash type (was held well in WA Colts grand final). More of an outside player but skills great. Great fill in for Johnstone.

Word on the street is that the Demons we're after after a tall initially with pick four but after acquiring another first round selection after trade week their priorities have changed. The Demons will look at a midfielder with their first selection (Pick 4) and a tall with their second selection (Pick 14). They didn't see too much difference between the likes of Henderson, McEvoy, Rance, Collier, Pears and possibly Myers. They don't rate Grant amongst that bunch. Had the Dees only had selection four they would have gone with a tall with Pick 4 as all of those named above wouldn't have reached their second pick (Pick 21) prior to trade week. If West Coast do get Cotchin, Melbourne will look at Masten or Ebert. Very, very mildly interested in Palmer.

5. Ben McEvoy (Murray Bushrangers/VICTORIA) – Western Bulldogs
Position: Ruck/KPP
Height: 199cm Weight: 90kg
Ben can play a several positions but is excellent in the ruck or up forward. Was named amongst Country’s best players during the championships. Kicking skills are pretty good and his ruck good as well. Works around the ground well, has a good beep test and endurance. Contested marks for Ben are a major highlight of his game and he could become a dominate CHF. A deficiency would be his pace of the mark.

The Dogs is that they are genuinely looking for a tall at their first selection (Pick 5), especially the likes of McEvoy or Henderson/Grant. McEvoy is rated very highly at the Dogs and they hope the Dees do not nab him at Pick 4, that is very unlikely now that the Dees have a second pick in the first round. McEvoy would be in the Darcy mould.

6. Rhys Palmer (East Fremantle/WESTERN AUSTRAIA) - Essendon
Position: Midfield
Height: 180cm Weight: 76kg
Palmer used the championships as leverage into top 10 calculations. Was absolutely dominated for WA along with Masten and Morton. Rhys’ pace is used well even though it may not look like he’s quick. Terrific user of the ball, ball magnet and shows grunt and arrogance after finishing with goals- kicked a fair few during the championships and in the WAFL league games. Great work great and size for an AFL midfielder.

Essendon will be looking for a blue-chip midfielder as this is where their problems lie. They will have a look at Palmer moreso than Ebert because of his finishing skills and ability to win the ball. Ebert will be looked at though.

7. David Myers (Perth/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - Fremantle
Position: Midfield/HBF
Height: 190cm Weight: 85kg
Myers has the size and body to be a great AFL winger. Played defence during the championships and flourished. Myers has a good marking ability and skills are nothing short of good. Uses the ball well and reads the play in good fashion too. Would be used as a running defender in the AFL initially and then make his way to the midfield over time. Averaged 28 possession in WAFL Colts and 23 possessions in WAFL league games.

Fremantle will be looking for a midfielder to add for their future stocks. Myers looks like the likely type being local and having a dominant year in both championships and league (classy skills will attract Frematle). Fremantle may also look at Ebert (line ball between Myers & Ebert) and local Rance here. Although they will hope that one of Masten or Palmer slide.

8. Brad Ebert (Port Magpies/SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - Brisbane
Position: Inside Midfielder
Height: 187cm Weight: 86kg
Good size for a midfielder being tall and built already as a bottom ager. Was very heavily tagged during the championships due to SA having a very weak line up. Brad has a good ability to win his own ball and uses it well in and under packs. Ebert is a good mark and attacks the ball well. Clean hands.

Brisbane will be picking the best available with their first pick, as they don’t have any major areas to fill or look at. Brad fills that position just fine. The likes of Henderson, Rance and Rioli might get looked here if Ebert does not fall.

9. Alex Rance (Swan Districts/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) – St Kilda
Position: Key Defender
Height: 194cm Weight: 87kg
Rance is the prototype attacking defender. He had a tremendous season to begin with in both the championships and WAFL where he averaged over twenty possessions. Can play both tall and small. Quick hands and good decision making ability. Good kicking and rebound is excellent. Pace of the mark is good for a fullback.

St Kilda will be looking at a tall to fill the future void at fullback of Max Hudghton. They might look at Henderson as well because of the void created by Gehrig but that one isn’t as important at the meantime.

10. Cyril Rioli (St Marys/NORTHERN TERRITORY) – Adelaide
Position: Midfielder
Height: 178cm Weight: 76kg
Cyril had a dominate championships and has great blood lines being the nephew of Maurice Rioli and Michael Long. Cyril has fantastic vision of play and is a great user of the ball. Rioli is nice and quick of the mark. Tackling and defensive pressure in the forward fifty is excellent. He is a genuine chance to be a top line rover if he can increase his endurance.

The Crows will want to add some skill and class to their midfield for the coming years and Cyril fits the bill well. Adelaide might have a look at Rance and Henderson but might shy away as their KPP drafting in the first round has been dismal over the past few years. Myers might be an option if available.

11. Lachlan Henderson (Geelong Falcons/VICTORIA) – Sydney
Position: Key Forward
Height: 195cm Weight: 90kg
Lachie has had two injury interrupted seasons but that won’t shy away recruiters as he has shown in games over the years and few this year he is one of the highly rated key forwards. Being a great contested mark and very mobile he is what you will look for in a CHF. Decision making and on-field leadership are great. There will be question marks on whether he is injury prone and about his kicking distance (after coming back from injury this year).

The Swans will have a key position player in their sights after not having much success with blooding young ones and having to draft Henry Playfair. Henderson, Grant and Rance will be on the radar.

12. Tom Collier (Lauderdale/TASMANIA) – Hawthorn
Position: Key Defender/Ruck Rover
Height: 192cm Weight: 86kg
Strong marking and mobile defender who can play on ball. Was overlooked in the draft last year but played superbly to increase his chances of getting drafted this year. Provides good rebound from defence, ranked 4th overall for contested possessions in the championships. He has pretty good foot skills and can find the ball in packs. Decision making could do with some work but very hand in that he can play rover or as a key defender.

Collier fits the Hawthorn running style of play and their recent type of talls drafted in Thorp, Jarryd Morton and Birchall. Hawthorn will be looking at Rioli and Myers here too.

13. Jarrad Grant (Dandenong/VICTORIA) – West Coast
Position: Forward
Height: 191cm Weight: 77kg
Has explosive pace of the mark and uses it very well in the forward line. Very athletic and attacks the footy well. Has a safe pair of hands and uses his body well in the forward line. Has great aerobic capacity.

West Coast might look to add to their tall forwards after drafting a mid with their first pick. Grant's explosive pace is something important in a key forward and that will appeal to the Eagles. Eagles will also look at local boys Gourdis and Myers here.

14. Tayte Pears (East Perth/WESTERN AUSTRAIA) - Melbourne
Position: CHB
Height: 192cm Weight: 90kg
Impressive in Championships at centre half back winning All-Australian honours. Strong overhead and aggressive in the contest. Rebounds well and terrific user of the ball. Good with spoils and if need too will carry the ball and back himself.

Melbourne have shown plenty of interest in Pears and like the Eagles will look to draft a key tall after having drafted a midfielder. The Dees will also look at Collier and Myers respectively with this pick.

15. Jack Grimes (Northern Knights/VICTORIA) - Kangaroos
Position: HFF/HBF/Midfield
Height: 187cm Weight: 76kg
Great ball winning ability and good onfield leadership are a few characteristics of Grimes. There are a few question marks about his kicking and pace but that shouldn't be too much of a worry as he does get a team mate more often then not. Quick hands, good decision making and always involved in play (whether it be a sheppard, tackling or positioning..)

Kangaroos will look to add Grimes to their midfield as a future hand to Harris. They have a few players who are capable of using the ball but not too many extractors. Kangaroos may also get a look in at Gourdis, Grant or Veszpremi at this pick.

16. David Gourdis (Subiaco/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - Port Adelaide
Position: Key Forward
Height: 193cm Weight: 88kg
Gourdis is a tall, agile, strong-marking forward. His kicking at goal in the WAFL Colts this year has been a bit hit and miss but generally his on play kicking is good. Gourdis has very good pace for a tall and does use it well. Very good at ground level and another player who reads the play well.

Port will look at a draft Gourdis as it needs a CHF. David is big, strong and mobile which is exactly what they will look for in their first pick. If Henderson does manage to slide they will get him, otherwise Simpson has been rumored to be on the cards at this pick.

17. Addam Maric (Calder Cannons/VICTORIA) - Geelong
Position: Forward/Midfield
Height: 179cm Weight: 80kg
A dead-eye shot at goal, barely misses a kick. Defensive pressue in attack is tremendous and his ball usage is excellent. Midfield work hasn't been good but if used as a forward can be very dangerous. Maric will either make it very big at AFL level or be nothing - but not in the middle.

Geelong have pretty much all bases well covered and will look at going best available. Maric's accuracy at goal will appeal to the Cats and may be used in the future like Steve Johnson. Cats will also look very closely at Selwood, Ward and Gourdis here.

Priority Round
18. Steve Gaertner (Dandenong/VICTORIA)- Richmond
Position: Wing/Defender
Height: 196cm Weight: 83kg
Very athletic and is quick for a tall. He is a strong mark and his skills aren’t too bad. Decision making needs to improve a bit. But on potential he could be anything with his athleticism and from what he has shown he can do. Only showing his potential in spurts in the TAC.

Richmond are pretty keen on Gaertner. Not sure if they would be willing to use pick 18 on him but doubt he would last till their next pick. Richmond will look for a tall at this pick. Will hope for a Grant to slide or Simpson might impress.

Round 2
19. Scott Simpson (Dandenong/VICTORIA) – Western Bulldogs
Position: Forward
Height: 194cm Weight: 91kg
Very strong in the arms and does well in one on ones. Leads and presents well. Kicking for goal is good and on play kicking is good too. Plays both FF and CHF. Can go missing in periods.

Doggies will look to go talls early as the quality of talls later on deteriorate. Not sure who they might go here but Scott Simpson would be a great pick up and would add quality to the Doggies tall stock. May look at one of the sliders here.

20. Patrick Veszpremi (Northern Knights/VICTORIA) – West Coast
Position: Midfielder
Height: 183cm Weight: 83kg
Not overly quick, strong, hard working and backs himself always. Uses the ball okay and decision making seems to be pretty good. Question mark with Paddy would be his tank, might have had an off day during the beep test at Draft Camp but will want to improve on his endurance.

West Coast should be looking to go best available and Veszpremi looks like he will slide with clubs looking to stock up on talls in the first round. The Eagles will look at Selwood and Ward here.

21. Callan Ward (Western Jets/VICTORIA) - Melbourne
Position: Midfielder
Height: 183cm Weight: 71kg
Kicks well and uses the ball well. Great decision making . Attack on the ball is excellent. Was only a fringe player for Metro but injured his knee in game 1, his improvement this season has been immense.

One Ward leaves and another one in. The Dees will be looking to fill their midfield stocks with players that know how to use the balls properly and are less likely to turn over the ball. If the Dees are desperate they will look for a tall here.

22. Sam Reid (Caloundra/QUEENSLAND) – West Coast
Position: Midfielder
Height: 185cm Weight: 75kg
An extractor. Ball usage and decision making can be improved on. Work ethic is excellent and his 1%er’s. Can be a top player if he just improves his decision making but excellent in traffic.

West Coast love their runners and will look for some around this pick.

23. Scott Selwood (Bendigo Pioneers/VICTORIA) – Essendon
Position: Midfielder
Height: 184cm Weight: 81kg

Essendon are super keen on Selwood, McGinnity & Dangerfield here. Selwood may slip in the draft and that's what Essendon are hoping for.

24. Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong Falcons/VICTORIA) – Fremantle
Position: Midfielder
Height: 188cm Weight: 80kg

Fremantle are after a running wingman who would add some skill to their side too.

25. Robbie Tarrant (Bendigo Pioneers/VICTORIA) - Brisbane
Positon: KP Forward
Height: 195cm Weight: 91kg

26. Stephen Browne (West Perth/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) – Sydney
Position: Defender/Midfield
Height: 181cm Weight: 74kg

Browne would start off as a Kennelly type backman before having stints in the middle. Very handy small backman. Sydney are keep on Dangerfield too.

27. Tom Bellchambers (Northern Bombers/TASMANIA) – Adelaide
Position: Ruck
Height: 199cm Weight: 91kg

Adelaide will be after a ruckman. Bellchambers has good ruck work and could do a bit more around the ground. Won't have go home factor either (like Watts & Meesen). Adelaide are said to have talk to Gaertner and may pick him if around this pick.

28. Levi Greenwood (Port Magpies/SOUTH AUSTRALIA) – Port Adelaide
Position: Midfield
Height: 181cm Weight: 91kg

Work horse midfield for Port. Haven't had one of these for a while, just keeps running and getting the ball.

29. Jackson Hall (Gippsland Power/VICTORIA) – Hawthorn
Position: Wing
Position: 187cm Weight: 76kg

Bottom-aged modern day AFL runner. Does fit the Hawthorn mould. Hawthorn are interested in Hall, not sure if they will use a second rounder but they suspect he will go high next year.

30. Paddy McGinnity (Claremont/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) – West Coast
Position: Midfield
Height: 182cm Weight: 75kg

McGinnity tagged Cotchin out of the game in the championships. Does run all day and second efforts are good. West Coast love their runners.

31. Andy Otten (Oakleigh Chargers/VICTORIA) – Collingwood
Position: Utility
Height:192cm Weight: 86kg

32. Tony Notte (Swan Districts/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) – Kangaroos
Position: Forward/Utility
Height: 194cm Weight: 70kg

May slide becuase of small frame.

33. Aaron Joseph (Glenorchy/TASMANIA) – Port Adelaide
Position: Inside Midfield
Height: 178cm Weight: 75kg

34. Chris Kangars (Geelong Falcons/VICTORIA) – Geelong
Position: Defender/Utility
Height: 193cm Weight: 84kg

Round 3

Position: Midfield
Height: 179cm Weight: 79kg

36. Dan McKenna (Gippsland Power/VICTORIA) – Carlton

Height: 194cm Weight: 82kg

Height: 191cm Weight: 82kg

What can you tell me about Jackson Hall (how do you know that the Hawks are interested in him)?

We will take Scott Selwood with our 1st pick if he is there, you can lock it in.

I think you might find that North will be looking for a key position player, preferably a backman, with its first pick. Out of 4 picks there are none that meet that criteria.

37. Hugh Sandilands (Oakleigh Chargers/VICTORIA) – Kangaroos
Position: Wing/Utility
Height: 191cm Weight: 82kg

64. Tom McNamara (South Adelaide/SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - Kangaroos
Position: Utility
Height: 182cm Weight: 87kg

With pick 15 i am 95% sure that North will pick up a KP Foward and with Gourdis still available i would hope we pick him up. With grimes you mention there are question marks about his kicking, if this is true i hope to god that the roos do not even look at him, we have far to many players on our list as it is that can not kick, also you mention that we will look to add Grimes to our midfield as a future hand to Harris. becasue we have few players who are capable of using the ball but not too many extractors, i think it is the other way around, we have Harris, Swallow, Rawlings, Firrito (to an extent) and also Leigh Adams who is looking very promisng atm who all extract the ball very well, we would be looking to add out side recievers in the mould of jesse smith or scott pendlebury type players.

After picking up a KP Foward i hope we look at adding alot of out side mids that are quick and have exceptional skills, so i am unsure if Sandilands and McNamara are this type of player, bit of help?

Happy with Tony Notte, have heard that he is very promising but just need to add weight to his skinny frame

A very good, and detailed mock draft, well done, oh and Zane Murphy is from Wynyard Tasmania

Good effort there timmeh, but as Lynch said West Coast traded pic 30 which is now in Adelaide's hands.

I would also suggest that Adelaide do like to draft players from the TAC GF team and we also like to draft players from Calder (reilly, douglas...) so I think we really would look strongly at a couple of those players from that team.

However ive heard the Demons are very very keen on Palmer, after Cotchin their next preference.
Ive also believe the dogs will take Henderson.

I notice you have picked Andrew Renton for the Saints 2nd pick, 42, but he was at State Screening, never made Draft Camp. Surely Mulligan, Smouha, Connelly, Simpson and Sullivan who were all at the Draft Camp would be before him?

Very nice work timmeh, would be happy to pick up Otten for the Pies at #31, that would be great. Not sold on Mulligan given his alleged work rate, would prefer best available mid/KP back (Croft, ? Chivers) at #47 and then Renton or Spencer at #63.

Can't complain with your selections though. :)

Height: 201cm Weight: 96kg

63. Jarrhan Jacky (Subiaco/WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - Collingwood

Height: 180cm Weight: 71kg

>Jaxson Barham (F/S Pick to Collingwood with last pick)
Like it for Collingwood. Wouldn't surprise to see us pick up a bit of left-fielder from WA, given our new focus on recruiting and the strong crop this year.

Not quite sure Jacky is the type we need, with Didak, Davis, Medhurst and Dick on the team already, but he's a good prospect.

Silly logic - Quite often players who miss draft camp get drafted ahead of players who make it. Many players who go to draft camp don't get drafted at all, and many players are drafted from state screenings.

I rate Renton quite highly, and wouldn't be surprised to see him go around that mark, if not even a little higher.

Sydney are committed to taking Craig Bird under the NSW Scholarship scheme. Will almost certainly be with pick 60 since there is no room on their list for more than three picks.

We will take Scott Selwood with our 1st pick if he is there, you can lock it in.

Bollocks. Why?? Thats just dumb.

The only reason I can think of is to re-unite the two brothers on the same list, and that is a stupid reason. If we cared at all about that we would have drafted Rhyce Prismall last year. We should be looking solely at who is the best available prospect for us, and as a bulldozing midfielder/flanker who is not overly quick, Scott Selwood ain't it. We don't need any more of them.

We have just delisted/traded six players 190cm or over, plus another two at 188cm-189cm. Add to that the fact that four of our core talls - Ottens, Harley, Scarlett and Mooney - will all be 28 or older by the start of next season, and its pretty obvious that what we desperately need is to stock up on some rucks and KPPs.

Thats why I doubt Maric would be on our shopping list either. We already have some super quality small forwards in Steve Johnson, Chapman and Stokes, plus a series of developing players who could easily end up being small forwards in Varcoe, Gamble, Byrnes, Davenport, Djerrkura, Hogan and Bedford.

I would love to get Pears, Rance or Gourdis first up, but if it goes the way timmeh suggests and they are all gone, I think we will go for one of Bellchambers, Gaertner, Scott Simpson or Notte. Kangars is a good choice for second pick, or Dawson Simpson if we don't get Bellchambers first up.

And as we only have 5 spots free on the list, #62 will be our last pick and the one we take Donohue with.

Does it really make sense to quote the entire OP before making your one line comment? We don't need to scroll through it over and over.

Good effort :thumbsu:
Henderson will be great if he slid that far. Not sure about getting a 180ish defender/mid though, we got plenty of those - well, we got Bevan (or Matthews/Crouch). since our 2nd pick is also our last (not including Bird), maybe we can go for a more high risk/high return type of pick rather than then a safe/industrious but unspecticular type of player.

Good work mate, only as Nikki Noo and Lynch said crows have #30, we'd probably take the same bloke if he'd a good tagger though, we need one. Otherwise, the crows would most definitely take Greenwood if he is available with our #27 pick, especially over a ruckman, whilst we lost 2 yes, we still have Biglands, Maric and Griffen as designated ruckman, plus Kurt Tippet and Brad Moran now who could also pinch hit in the ruck, I would suggest we will rookie list a ruckman or take one with our last pick. Greenwood would probably be a good replacement for Ricciuto, tough nut and similar body size would come in handy.

Otherwise good work, we need a small forward and Rioli is meant to be the best, would not be disappointed if we drafted Maric with #10 either, looks to be a player and a dead eye dick is just what we need.

23. Scott Selwood (Bendigo Pioneers/VICTORIA) – Essendon
Position: Midfielder
Height: 184cm Weight: 81kg

Essendon are super keen on Selwood, McGinnity & Dangerfield here. Selwood may slip in the draft and that's what Essendon are hoping for.

I'd be happy with that:thumbsu:

Good effort. I would be very happy if Brad Ebert fell to us on draft day.

On Brisbane's 2nd pick at 25, I'd think we would take McGinnity over someone like Tarrant. We don't have many taggers - Troy Selwood was played more in defence this year and Ben Fixter has been delisted. IMO McGinnity would fit our needs very well, whereas we have good depth in our talls already. Can't imagine a spot for Tarrant as long Brown, Bradshaw, Clark and Brennan play forward for us.

Quality.

Ebert/Palmer/Masten at Pick 6

While essendon are keen on McGinnity/Dangerfield/Selwood at pick 23.

And a ruck at pick 55 or 71 :) :) :)

Decent effort, having us take 2 KPP forwards, 2 middies & a ruck.

Although I would be very disappointed if Callan Ward was available at 19 and we didn't get him, sounds like a player who would be a perfect fit for us.

notice how he hasn't responded to all the queries put to him? probably because he didn't write the OP, and has no idea how/why the players have been ranked where they were...

I have seen a number of phantom drafts that have pick 30 going to the Eagles. Thats not correct. Pick 30 went from Eagles to Bulldogs and then to Crows as part of the Ben Hudson deal. West Coast got pick 22 from the bulldogs as a part of the deal for giving up pick 30.
