When I was last in Brisbane I asked about the date of the AGM. I meant to tell everybody earlier. Sorry.

A separate thread might be handy to pull all the issues together to raise at the AGM. I won't be attending (it will be too hot at that time of the year in Brisbane for me).

*********

Some of the issues which have been mentioned here so far, and some others, which might be worth raising could be:

our club's support for the relocation of Kangaroos to Gold Coast and the reasons (what incentives are the AFL giving us etc?)
guernsey (alternate and Fitzroy strip)
membership target (28,000 in 2008) - how will this be achieved?
recruitment of Irish rookies - and the club's plans in the future
player injuries - confirm that every player is off injury list

Re-signing out of contract players. Could this have been done earlier, and if not, why not?

And on the note of recruiting Irish blokes: why couldn't have we kept things under wraps until we signed them up? Even before there was anything solid we were already reading multiple articles about us targetting Hanley, Brendan Murphy, Dyas(?), O'Rourke, Conor Meredith etc. In the end we ended up getting Pierce Hanley, but I would possibly put Brendan Murphy going to Sydney down to us being too blase about him. To have exposed him in the middle of the year and then invited him to a trial in October gave plenty of time for other clubs to pounce, which Sydney promptly did.

Yep, the biggest points raised in this thread would be the Kangaroos relocation and the player contract farce this year.

I might come along. Stay with family until after Xmas.

How long does the AGM go for - one, two, five hours?

For mine, it is the issue of number of games in Victoria - what initiatives are the club attempting to sway the AFL, especially if North re-locate and the talk of them getting 8-10 games in Melbourne.

I would never expect the AFL to give us that many - but it MUST be a minimum of 7 - I know the club is committed to its Melbourne membership base, but i want to know how much they keep pushing it, amend the constitution etc with the AFL's support - just would like more updates on how hard the club pushes, although i appreciate how stubborn the AFL is.

On the issue of Melbourne based supporters, does the club do anything to allow them access to the AGM - eg a video-conferencing facility or web broadcast?

Sadly can't attend as it is too far to travel the main question I would ask is...

Now we have lost the 12th game at the Gabba are the club going to try and secure a new deal for 12 games, also if we are only playing 11 at the Gabba are we guaranteed 6 games minimum in Victoria again? Especially considering that for Tasmania we are considered a Victorian Club.

Goes for about an hour, could be just a little longer than that.

Not that i am aware, but if they offer Victorian memberships, they should. There you go POBT - another issue for someone to raise in QLD.

Surely the meeting could be over and done with in 30 minutes.

Agenda - adopt Minutes of 2006 AGM (yawn), adopt 2007 Annual Report (double yawn), election of directors unopposed (some one wake me).

**********

So Mr Kelly and Mr Liddy will retire from their positions as directors and then be re-elected unopposed because no other member had nominated by 1 November 2007.

I didn't even know that the club had sought nominations for appointment/election to the Board of Directors. Did anybody get a memo?

Haha, not one question was asked in relation to the audit. Everyone seemed happy with the results, and rightly so.

Were there any questions answered in relation to the player contract situation during trade week, the alternative jumper debate, or the Gold Coast issue?

Any details would be great from those who attended. Or can I find these answers elsewhere?

I asked 2 questions, one in relation to how tight our salary cap seems to be, despite the clearing of backended contracts.

And also asked about whether the AFL had our best interests (economically and also football wise - zone concessions etc) at heart in their push to issue a 17th license.

Both were answered with a bit of doublespeak, so its probably best to wait until the minutes are released to fully understand the response.

As for the jumper issue, check out the jumper debate thread.

By minutes do you mean a report by one of you that was there?

If so,cool! Can't wait!

It's been a few years since I made it to an AGM and one of the things that frustrated me most is that they always close off the official minutes, and all of the question and answer time is not on record.

It would be great to see/read what the go was in last nights meeting.

What was the attendance numbers last night?

Perhaps the club could look at doing a net cast in the future so Us who live too far away can watch in. Sounds like there was good discussion about a lot of issues and stuff which would be great to listen to.

Probably about 100 people.

Cozi, Chez and I were the youngest by far.
