FORMER Adelaide captain Mark Ricciuto faces a police investigation over a brawl in Adelaide early yesterday.
Two men, who did not want to be named, have alleged Ricciuto stood by while a group of men assaulted them.
The pair were treated at the Royal Adelaide Hospital for concussion and minor injuries.
Ricciuto denied that he was directly involved in the incident or had any association with anyone involved.
His manager, Justin Reid, said Ricciuto was out celebrating a friend's 40th birthday.
He and his fiancee, Sarah Delahunt, were on their way home when the incident occurred.
The pair claim they were assaulted after they passed Ricciuto and a group of up to eight men on Rundle St about 5.15am yesterday.

What crap, sensationalist reporting! Naming Roo just to sell papers:rolleyes: is stooping lower than a snakes belly.
I hope he sues them for bringing his name into disrepute!

FORMER Adelaide Crows captain Mark Ricciuto faces a police investigation over a brawl in the city early yesterday.
Two men, who did not want to be identified, have alleged that Ricciuto stood by while a group of men assaulted them.
The men were treated at the Royal Adelaide Hospital yesterday for concussion and minor injuries, including split lips and bruising.
But last night, Ricciuto denied that he was directly involved in the incident or had any association with any party involved.
His manager, Justin Reid, told The Advertiser Ricciuto was out with his fiancee, Sarah Delahunt, celebrating a friend's 40th birthday and they were on their way home when the incident occurred on Rundle St.
"In no way was Mark verbally or physically involved in the incident and he has no association with any party involved," he said.
"At no stage did Mark call out anyone's name during the incident and he is happy to assist police with any ongoing investigations."
The men claim they were assaulted after they passed Ricciuto and a group of up to eight other men on Rundle St about 5.15am yesterday.
"We just said hello as we were walking past," one of the men said.
The men claim Ricciuto insulted them before several men who were with him held the pair and hit them as he stood and watched.
"We had been drinking but we honestly didn't provoke him. All we said was hello, then they just went for it and I just about p....d my pants," one of the men alleged.
One of the men says he had a tooth filling dislodged during the alleged assault. Adelaide police confirmed they were called to the scene early yesterday but Ricciuto and the group of men had left.
Investigations were continuing.
Ricciuto, a Brownlow Medallist and Crows premiership player, announced his retirement from the AFL in August as a result of persistent injuries.
Its actually not the paper telling the story but a couple guys alleging to be the victims.

Have no idea about this story, but don't you love the media  You can standby and not get involved and you still make the media.

The full facts will emerge, but its easy to play victim after you instigate something and then have your arse handed to you (there was a conflicting story on 7 news last night)
We will see over the next few days

So these guys walk past Roo, then get in a fight. Roo watches on, but has no involvement. Now call me stupid, but isnt that the best thing for an (former) AFL football player to do.
Now Imagine, Roo steps in cleans up all 8. Kills three of them as they are unfit pissed louts and he is still a ball of muscle. Then imagine th papers next day. Roo will be held in the same way Kerr , Voss Gehrig are.
Roo has just shown he has class by ignoring the conflict.

The implication of the allegation is that Roo's associates beat them up on his behalf. Could be a beat up but who knows. Can certainly see why it was reported.
I think the title of this thread is sensationalist.
I thought the Hun gave him a pasting, but reading the article it sounds fine. What did the S.A papers say?

Ditto.
SA papers pretty well reported the same thing, nothing in it.
Must have been really traumatised by having Roo watch as his tooth-filling was dislodged.
How big is the Dale Mortimer vibe in that article?
Waaah a big footballer beat me up when i had it coming!

Some guy rang into 5AA today and spoke to KG and Cornesy.
Allegedly his mate was there and saw the whole thing. He was talking to Ricciuto who was with his fiance and a couple of other friend. While they were chatting there was a punch up a few meters away from them. Once that settled down, the two lads that had their asses handed back to them on the platter looked up and saw Roo standing there with a few people around him and started abusing him. At that stage two boys that were with Roo went over the the 2 that had their asses handed to them on the platter and there was some puch and shove and a punch was thrown. At that point, Roo came in and pulled two of his mates away and told them to let it go and they walked off. As they were wlaking off the two that were beaten up were yelling after them how they will stitch Roo up by informing the media.
According to this caller, it wasn't 5 am it was more like 3 am and the two dicks that ended up in hospital for minor cuts and bruised first reported it all to the papers before going in to get themselves checked.
Apparently, the friend of the caller has already approached the police and told them of the events and is strong in his belief that at no stage did Roo get involved nor were his friend the ones that did the bashing.
Sounds like your typical ****wits looking for their 2 seconds of fame. Just like that dick splash that got punched by Brogan at the airport.

Except Ricciuto, a)wasn't stupid enough to throw a punch and b)was the one trying to stop punches being thrown if this callers claims are correct and also Brogan was stupid enough to do it in the middle of the airport, so the bloke didn't even need to consider going to the media, they came to him.
Anyway, totally agree with your statement, definitely ****wits looking for their 15 minutes of fame or to just defame a legend, must be port supporters.

I can't wait until the full story behind this emerges. I have no doubt that Roo will be found to have done nothing wrong.

the only reason that these dick heads stared yelling out to roo is because they want to know what it is like to talk to a legend and i say well done to roo we all miss u
