Players of less talent have played at Test level.

I think he scored a 100 in his last ODI for england...never to play again! May have become aa decent ODI player, but the English tradition of 3 ODI's a season killed him. Scored 200 in a 45 over game down at Sussex or Hampshire a season or two ago too.

Crofty finally got to face his own bowling!!!!!
The problem is the match was at Glamorgan on a flat wicket with short boundries, so very high scores were expected.

It was at the Kennington Oval and nobody expects scores like that.
I can't believe how blase (I need an accent on that e) everyone is being about this game to me it is UNBELIEVABLE.A guy breaks the world record 1 day score by hitting 268 & the team posts 438 & then the opposition nearly gets it with their non spinning off spinner pinch hitting to such effect that he bags a ton!
For me Alistair Brown should never have been dropped from the 1day side & it's funny how he's marked down as a 1day player because he's so attacking but until a couple of years ago(I'm not sure now) he had one of the highest first class averages of any current English player (may have been over 50)I'm pretty sure it was higher than any current England batsman with the exception maybe of Crawley.
Some guy I worked with once told me a story of AB opening the batting in a club game in Surrey about 10 years ago & some tearaway West Indian style bowler came steaming in only to see the first 3 balls of the game get smashed for 6 & stormed off the pitch & went home.:D
