I'm guessing this might have been mentioned before, but i'm curious how old all the forum regulars are-
so answer for me, these questions three:

How old are you? (in human years!):

When did start supporting the eagles?:

Have you ever supported anyone different as your 'first' team?:

For me, i'm 18, I can dimly remember first going to games at subi in 1990, and because of that, the Eagles have always been the be-all and end-all for me. How about y'all?

I hear ya....sure Teal is cool....apparently, but its nothing on the mighty Blue n Gold! Thats the thing though nowadays with footy, if you look cool and win games you get fans who are too young to realise that teams like Port and Essendon are gay :D

How old are you? (in human years!):

In human years I'm 29.

When did start supporting the eagles?:

As soon as they existed. I started going to games regularly in 1991 when I moved back to Perth. I didn't become a member though until the start of 1992.

Have you ever supported anyone different as your 'first' team?:

In the days prior to 1987 I used to support Essendon in the VFL. This is my deepest darkest shame. Although in reality I was an East Perth supporter and still am.

28 years old in 15 days

Supported since the Eagles inception but didn't really follow the VLF too closely prior to '89-'90. I was much more into the WAFL (Go the Royals!!!) and the local soccer league (being the young wog that I was - Perth Azzurri/Italia) so it took a couple of years to appreciate the whole competition, opposition sides and for the Eagles to grab me in a big way.

Pre-'87 I was interested in the Roos, but like I said earlier, never really followed the VFL back then.

24 years old, always supported the eagles from 1987 when my neighbour brought me home a poster signed by her workmate Dwayne Lamb and a foundation member's stickpin. Im am livid because I lost that at a friends house, but I think my bro still has his, he hates footy though so im sure I can wrangle it out of him ;)

Never supported anyone in the VFL days until west coast came along.

I have supported West Coast since I moved over from Victoria in 1990. Before that I supported Carlton. I now hate Carlton :D

In the WAFL I follow South Fremantle. Have a soft spot for Peel because I lived in Mandurah up untill this year. If Peel if forced out of the competition I will be very annoyed

I was one of the carriers of that eagle logo out onto the middle of the ground that day with all the kiddies shrouded underneath it dressed in bird outfits. They came running out once we were in the centre and we had turned the logo around for the crowd and the balloons released etc...it (the logo thing) was all patched up because it broke during the rehersal that morning because of the wind. We met the Richmond cheer squad who had come ever and were amazed by their devotion to the Tigers for them to have come all this way...

My schoolmate next to me accidently stood on the barefoot of one of those little kids whilst we were carrying this thing out but to her credit, she kept underneath the curtain while she was crying and hobbling in pain. She had come good in time for her to fly/dance out in the middle.

the West coast banner was 3/4 tarp (with SGIO or something written on it)and 1/4 crepe paper for the players to run thru... the bannerholders couldnt hold it up in the breeze because this thing was like the mainsail of a clipper... so a few of us also managed to get a spot in that task as well. It was all very exciting...

We shared a changeroom with the Eaglettes which was a highlight for us teenage lads...we got seats behind the goals, got on TV and the eagles came from behind to win the game.

It was alot like the once a year State of Origin game from previous years....except that their was another one at Subiaco in a fortnight and so on.

I'm 19 (although I have the maturity levels of an eleven year old).

Started supporting the Eagles after hearing my Dad call Peter Sumich a fat, useless *** (his words, not mine) after Suma missed that goal in the 1990 final against Collingwood.

I figured anything that could cause this much emotion in my Dad (who's normally a very placid bloke) is worth watching.

Not really that interested in footy at all (the old man was into NM, but meh) until I went to my first game, which just happened to be the 1986 State of Origin where we beat the Vics and Peake went sick. I remember thinking that this footy caper was alright.

Then the Eagles came on the scene - to paraphrase that girl in Jerry Maguire, they had me at "hello".

Age: 50 this month

Have supported the Eagles since inception. Attended first game against Richmond at Subi in 1987. Been a member since 1989. Went to 1991 GF at Waverley and then 1992 GF at MCG.Have been to Melbourne for quite few games but nothing to compare to the 1992 GF! Have a library of around 60 videos of my favourite games - including most of the milestones. One of my favourites is when Suma kicked 11 goals against Essendon at the MCG. Suma kicked more than the entire Essendon team. My brother was at the game and rang me on his mobile to let me hear the Bombers chanting "Suma's a ****..".He had great delight in pointing out that Suma had outscored their entire team!

I have never supported a VFL team - although I now have a soft spot for Collingwood - because of the Mick factor.

Grew up following the Mighty Royals - and am still a member and attend all the games. The last two Premierships have been extra sweet after all the losses in the 60's. Was a dream come true for me when the Royals were the Eagles aligned club.

Support: From just about the start. I was only 6 going on 7 when the Eagles started so I wasn't what you might call heavily into the club like I am these days, but I still have recollections of the early years. Before then I was a general WAFL fan, Dad used to take me to East Freo oval every few weeks but I never liked the Sharks much...just whoever was on field was good enough.

Have been supporting the eagles since mid-1995 or so, not sure exactly but I remember us losing to Carlton by 1pt, so sometime before that. Didn't follow any other team prior to that as we are a soccer family, and they don't play AFL outside of Australia. Went to my first WCE game in 1996 against Melbourne (funnily enough I attended a Bulldogs-Essendon game in 1995 and 1996, so a bit surprising i don't follow them).

With the Eagles since 87, though I wasn't really into the footy in a big way until about 1990ish.

Pre 1987, I sort of vaguely followed North Melbourne, based on the fact that my dad sort of vaguely followed them as well.

WAFL team was Subi back then, but these days I go for Peel (though I really take little or no notice of the WAFL at all).

I have one brother who is also an Eagles man - he won a raffle in 1994, prize was a trip to the GF lucky bastard!

My other brother goes for the Dockers, but he's the sort that just goes the other way to be annoying. He used to go for Carlton, that tells you all you need to know.

My sister is a Swans fan - she lived over there for several years and was a member. The first game she ever went to was when Lockett kicked the point after the siren to go into the GF! It was fun sitting next to her at the Eagles-Swans game at Subi a couple fo weeks ago!:D

Blocker, having a concept of "culture, history, and tradition" only comes with age, does it? If that's so, why do so many kids show up at Anzac Day marches?

Footy's like art in a way - we all get enjoyment from it at different levels. Doesn't make one's personal appreciation any less valid.

Another 21 yo here.

Lived overseas when the Eagles were hatched, but started following in '88, but that was only because I was convinced my teacher, Mr McKenna moonlighted as a reliable defender on the weekends. :o Kept gradually paying them more attention to the point of having heights, weights, occupations, favourite tv shows and girlfriends names memorised by about 1992/3.... embarrassing, but that was the start of my obsession :)

Attended my first Swans premiership aged 23 months, a month after my first VFL final at the 'G. Whole family were WAFL fanatics (East Perth one side, Swannies the other), so I used to run around on the slopes at bassendean from whenever I could walk. But I never had a VFL team. :)

I don't know "art", but I know what I like! :D I think the other thing to consider is that at newer clubs like West Coast and Freo, elements such as culture and tradition are being defined as we speak, so we essentially are one with them. The attitudes supporters and players have today (or perhaps had in the 90s) are the foundations of club culture, our histories are being defined as we speak, and our traditions are being set in place now (e.g nice jumpers :)).

Moreover, you have to realise that supporter culture is an offshoot of internal club culture, they aren't the same thing. Supporting is very different to being an actual player.

Started supporting the Eagles sometime around 97 - I rememebr watching the game when Roo kicked 7 against Essendon at the G, and realising I was starting to know all the players' names from their faces...First live game was Bullies at WACA in 98 "THAT GAME"...and I was hooked.

I supported the Seattle SuperSonics NBA, the Seattle MAriners (baseball) and Seattle Seahawks.... (Gridiron) and still do via the web....guess where I grew up! And also the University of Washington Huskies in Uni Sport.

Rain, rain and more rain.

But the food is very good there from my recollection. The only USA gridiron game I ever saw was at the Seahawks, brilliant game.

Shan't reveal my age, but I admit that I went to several Eagles games in your first couple of years, never really followed them (though wanting them to win), it was more of a curiosity thing.

Each time I did go, me and my mates used to get seats directly behind the dancing girls. Made it a great afternnon!

Was anyone there when the streaker ran on? Can't remember if it was '87 or '88. Almost turned me into a Weagle that one.

North Melbourne - full of sandgropers (Glendinning, Krakouers, Cable, Kelly, McCann, Melrose). I used to go to all the early 80's SOO games against SA and the Big V. Watching the local WAFL underdogs beat the Big V was inspirational. At the time there was talk of Claremont joining the VFL. I knew that as soon as there was a WA team in the VFL, I would be following it.

Were you happy to see the Sonics revert to their more traditional green and gold this year , rather than that crap red uniform they wore?

I know it never used to be much of a thing teams changing uniforms in the states but my team (the Pistons) also reverted back to their traditional red, white and blue that they won premierships in to please the fans. I was hoping that since AFL clubs marketing departments take interest in such things they might follow suit and it seems to have happened.

East Perth was the side that tried to join the VFL in 1980.

Claremont were unlucky when they made the Escort cup semi finals and looked like the side that would go all the way and the VFL turned the sprinklers on during the game to force a Victorian win.
