As you can see I am fairly bored at the moment so thought it would be a good idea to come up with a list like Mike Sheehans for the top 50 players in the EDFL. Before it can be done though we need some nominees. Just using the players from 2007 at this stage.

how does anthony not get possie number 1 despite winning the B and F but i reckon you've done a pretty good job.

Alger won the B&F too and i have him at 13. Everyone knows it is a midfielders medal. Was not just solely on this years performance, but more so how i rate the players.
bigpapagman
30 Oct 2007, 07:21
yeah, i think you've done pretty well.
would have Kael Bergles.
Include him.......
Maybe Urie never plays against Nyora, but the only place i've ever heard of him is here, is that a p1ss take? If he has played against Nyora in the past couple of years, then he shouldn't be No.1 because I've seen all the Nyora v NNS games and they've had nobody stand out at all.
Other than that, I'd say the list is fairly good. Although, there are a few on the list who go missing in important games. Can be difficult to tell with some guys who dominate against the poor teams and don't show up in the big ones. Although that's mostly referring to the 20-50 range people and would only include a bit of re-shuffling.
There's also a few i've never seen play before. Having missed a couple of games this season.

Dean Hislop should be top 10 i reckon, one of the best in the league for the last 5 years. Brad miles maybe a bit high, guess that is based on his finals games. I would have Gilliatte at 1, league B & F last year, GF Best of ground this year, cant do better than that. Maybe a bit biased but thats my thoughts. I never saw ohara or Christopher do anything, big reputations! Urie, thats a joke for sure, only played about 8 games. Glenn Attenborough, i dont think so. Dont think oppenlander did much, another big reputation. Dean Brown is better than Alex McQueen. I would have Matt Campbell top 5 as well, he is a proven Gun in this league. Good list though, its very hard to do so ya have done well.
My top 10 would be
1. Gilliatte
2. Mumford
3. Fitzpatrick
4. Ablett
5. Campbell
6. Hislop
7. Donaldon
8. Sheen
9. Cann
10. Evans

I didn't realise that Sheen had such a good year in the TAC Cup last year. Have a look at some of these stats!
http://taccup.footballvic.com.au/?s=results
It's ridiculous he didn't play VFL this year because he could've been a chance of being drafted in this years weak draft!
Does anyone have any details on his weight and height?

Yeah 33 goals is a good year from 12 games. He is not tall enough for a key forward at the higher level. My guesss would be that he is only 6'2 and maybe 90kg.

Good work bigpapagaman!
That list would have been done 2 years ago I'm assuming. You'd expect he could have grown a couple of cm since then and put on a bit of muscle?
A 190cm and 92kg key position forward looks a hell of a lot more tempting to a AFL or VFL club than a 188cm/88kg key position forward.

31 Oct 2007, 09:07
I don't think he has grown is the last year or so. If you want to be a key forward in the AFL you really need to be 6'4
