Anybody heard of 'Fusion Australia'?

They apparently do community things like offer arts classes and stuff to disadvantaged etc etc.

My wife has sounded out a job with them (teaching art). Its the sort of thing she loves to do and I reckon she's better at it than anyone else in the world.

Our concern is : is Fusion Australia a group that just happens to be churchey, such as it was born out of Sunday Schools or something like that, or is it some sort of wacko fundamentalist religious cult that'll request wierd commitments and so on?

Anybody heard of them? Know what their deal is?

Fusion was born in Sydney in the early ‘60s. It came out of one young man’s discovery of his own spirituality and his journey to faith. Fusion came out of his struggle to find effective ways of communicating his newfound faith with young people on the streets of his hometown. Fusion now operates out of 24 centres around the nation, with hundreds of others involved in Fusion associated events in their local communities.

Fusion’s Calling
To take whatever initiatives are necessary to see justice, mercy, and compassion expressed at every level of life in Australia by:
Working for change and growth in the lives of young Australians and their families to maximise their potential;
Working with others for growth and change in non government and government agencies so they are seen and experienced as cooperative, hospitable and a source of hope;
Working for the understanding and transformation of Australian society so that it has the option of finding and fulfilling its place in the world;
So that young people and their families are empowered to find a sense of vocation in Australia and beyond and to make a positive contribution to the spiritual, emotional, mental, physical and social health of others.

Where does Fusion get its support?
Fusion is a Christian Youth and Community organisation that draws its support from a broad cross-section of churches of different denominations. Fusion also attracts government and community funding for a number of its welfare and community service programs.

Thanks Frodo, the last paragraph makes them sound on the level, while earlier, where you've quoted 'any initiatives necessary', it's sounds a little penultimate to 'whatever means necessary' which is a little disconcerting.

I hope they turn out to be ok, and that the other half feels comfortable working there, a sshe's pretty frustrated about coming over from the states with every art degree in the book and finding that nothing is good enough to get her employed here.

Thanks again, Frodo.

One of their aims is the 'transformation of Australian society'. To what?

I tried responding to Waydes remarks, but they're now gone.

I am not being pedantic, just asking a question which I DO NOT view as 'pathetic'. As was pointed out by Mobes, they do say, 'by any initiatives necessary' which isn't all that promising, but if it's just a charity trying to do good, then good luck to them.
