From a purely selfish point of view.

Because if they don't then the AFL will put the pressure on Melbourne to re-locate and then I might lose my team.

I'm sure a lot of Dees and Dogs fan secretly share my point of view.

If North move to the Gold Coast how long do you think before the AFL start forcing a side to move up to Sydney? Bulldogs maybe, Melbourne maybe. Then who is next, Darwin, Newcastle, third sides in WA or SA. Once the ball is rolling it will be very hard to stop it, and I certainly hope neither have to go through the battles we currently are.

In the long run, you might think a North move to the Gold Coast saves your club, I would argue it puts them in more peril.

If I was a Demon's fan - the first thing I would do is take BBP up to the Gold Coast and feed him to a shark.
He has been the biggest knob towards the Roos on these boards and hasn't done the Demons any favors.
It would be better for the team to lose him.

You should probably just ignore BBP, he is a pathetic anti-NM troll.

I'm just stating it as it is. No troll or malice intended.

I personally don't want the Roos to move, but if it comes to push and shove and the AFL demands a club to move, then I hope its the Roos...and obviously not the Dees. Common sense really.

So if it's common sense, why the need to start a new thread about it?

Me thinks a troll.

Basically to get a Melbourne and Bulldogs fan perspective on it.

If the Roos manage to remain in Melbourne, then thats fantastic...power to the fan!

But the only problem is the AFL will then put the pressure on Melbourne and Bulldogs to re-locate. I don't want that to happen!

Mate, your solution is to get back to your Demons board.
Get organized,
Do something constructive.
Stop trolling.
Pull your finger out.
Become a good citizen.
Be a good boy/girl and uncle Vlad might leave you alone.

If North move to the GC there will be 9 Victorian sides and 7 non-Victorian sides. The temptation for the AFL to make it 8 & 8 and even up the travel component of the draw will be irresistable.

If North go, someone else will follow (in which case, **** I hope it's someone else).

Not necesarily, the AFL might not want to be completely subsidising two relocated teams at the one time. However in the long term its probably not a good thing...but then again we may have turned things around a bit more by then...we are being more proactive than melbourne..

From a purely selfish point of view, you'd better pray that North stays in Arden St.

If they succeed in shifting one club out of Melbourne, they sure as hell won't stop there.

I personally think that if the AFL manage to convince the Kangaroos to relocate to the Gold Coast and the Bulldogs to move to Western Sydney then the Demons will be safe for the next 20 years until a population increase in another part of Australia means the AFL can justify sending a team there.

Yer I agree with that although peril is not the word I would use. I would say it would save those clubs you named.

Hopefully soon the AFL will contain the Gold Coast Kangaroos, Western Sydney Bulldogs and the Canberra Demons. Would really sho that the AFL is national.

Of course soon after that a third WA team and eventually a fair way into the future a team in Darwin and Tasmainia.

Now that is a comp I would enjoy watching. Truely national, support from all over the country. A team fro almost everyone to support and some of the greatest rivalries in sporting history.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Good for you, professor ; meanwhile, those of us who know and understand AFL will enjoy watching our teams in the competition as it currently stands.

I do enjoy watching the comp. I just disagree that it should be a Melbourne comp. It should be more Australian and less based in Melbourne

Canberra and Darwin will never have enough people to justify having a AFL team.
