Tomorrow three AFL players will join their club CEO to launch a community gym in the suburb of NORTH MELBOURNE.

The club has joined forces with the Moonee Valley City Council, Victoria Police and the YMCA to help create the new training facility to support disadvantaged youth in the Flemington and NORTH MELBOURNE area.

The players are....

wait for it....

in North Melbourne, that's where they're opening this gym tomorrow....

Adam Ramanauskas, Andrew Welsh and Bachar Houli! The CEO is Peter Jackson and the club is Essendon......

Speaks volumes doesn't it. I hope all the media get down to Buncle Street NORTH MELBOURNE tomorrow to witness the opening of the NORTH MELBOURNE community centre.

pardon me while i ROFL.

so you concede that even the council in which the suburb of North Melbourne falls does not even acknowledge Kangaroos Football Club as "North Melbourne" any more, and would therefore prefer Essendon to open a centre named the North Melbourne Community Centre, in the suburb of North Melbourne.

I think you will find that the suburb North Melbourne comes under the Melbourne City Council. The same council contributing to the redevelopment of Arden St.

The council boundary between Melbourne and Moonee Valley runs through North Melbourne. North Melbourne Community Centre is in Moonee Valley, Arden St Footy Ground in Melbourne (even though they're only about 5 minutes' walk apart). It's a pointless and stupid council boundary, drawn by Kennett to exclude the housing commission from City of Melbourne.

But not as stupid and pointless as the opening post of this thread.

This is indeed very true. I grew up in Flemington and that boundary - you'd see it on the street signs - snaked all over the place.

Classic piece of gerrymandering from the ma who is now the Hawthorn president.

Todays Herald Sun, painted a pretty bleak picture, the AFL(vlad) proberley had a hand in it! I thought this thread was gonna be about that article!
