1) We will shortly post our highest profit ever, somewhere in the vicinity of $2M (great effort :thumbsu:, if true)

2) Up to 12 players were chased during the trading period and in particular St Kilda went hard for Changa and Willo

3) We have alot of players out of contract end of season 08 and possibly a half dozen players will not be offered contracts - to mine I can only assume Jacobs, not sure of the others

Thoughts????
anyone else heard of any of these???

Does "chased" mean enquired about?

If so, am sure we "chased" 20 or 30 ourselves.

Pelchen was the guest speaker at "Graham Arthurs Thursday dinner at The Tower" on the Thursday during the trade week.

Apparently we went into the draft not intending to "hawk" (pardon the English) any players, but would listen to what other clubs proposed.

His comment was that "you may not intend to sell your house but if somebody walked in off the street and offered you more than its worth, .......you'd be silly not to think about it.

He said (up until then) there had been a number of enquiries regarding Boyle and only one for Willo (which was Brisbane) but nobody came back with any firm offers.

No mention of Changa or St Kilda!

Things may have heated up on the Friday, but the fact that Pelchen was prepared to give up his Thursday night, during trade week, to attend the function suggested to me that we were not in trading mode unless a spectacular deal was offered

Coincidentally, heard Rodney Eade being interviewed on the radio last week.
He was asked about WB chasing KP forwards and mentioned they enquired about Boyle and White, however as these players were still contracted, it was a sellers market and the incumbent the clubs could ask whatever they want.
Read between the lines, once out of contract, it gives the "chasing" clubs more bargaining power.

Cheers
