The kiwis have a team in every other comp we have, and this way they get their first mammal too ;)

New Zealand is 300 years away from a team in this comp, and frankly there's no point in giving another spot in an AUSTRALIAN comp to a team that won't be in Australia.

Why do you automatically put the Roos into the firing line ?
Why not Richmond ?
I think both Richmond fans and the kiwis like to bonk sheep anyway so it would be a perfect match :)
Seriously I don't think a New Zealand club would be logistically possible at this stage, they just not enough interest in AFL over there.
There is a bigger chance of having an team based in Ireland then NZ IMHJO.

Probably a better idea to introduce cricket to New Zealand first.

In all seriousness, a New Zealand team with the right promotion could work, but not one called the "Kangaroos".
In any case, I'd hate to send that bunch of fly-by-night whoring pretenders over there. It would do massive damage to the AFL brand.

Its called the Australian Football League, not the sheep rooters footy league. They can start up their own league, but there is no way that the Kiwis would get a go in the AFL

Then the Kangaroo wouldn't change that as it is indigenous to Australia.
Aren't the Maori indigenous to NZ, they are mammals.

Would you get behind an Australian NFL team.
Sure you might watch the odd game like the Superbowl once a year but would you pay a couple hundred bucks in match day costs year in year out to a team of mostly foreigners in a sport most of the population wouldn't know the full rules (If the unpires and "experts" cant interpretate the rules the saem way the kiwis cant). And if you did would enough other people do the same for it to be financially viable.
Will not happen for a long time

Greetings Viewers
StMookeyJ has the right idea.... but I think his 300 year timeline may still be a little optimistic.
My younger brother - expat Brisbanite - at 36 years of age plays in the local Auckland A grade comp. There season lasts about 10 - 12 weeks, waiting for rugby season to finish, so both grounds and players become available.
Whilst there is a large number of expat Australians, not enough to sustain a club and without corporate support.... it won't get off the ground.
And while I'm at it ......
The NZ Falcons just happen to be the curent world AFL champs.
and while I didn't know NZ had no native marsupials, they have plenty of Australian possums which they regard as ferals and love turning thier fur into all sorts of clothing.

Good idea is you wanted another team that could be relied upon to choke in finals.

Are St Kilda still playing games in Tassie?
No the tag pretenders belongs firmly to your club. How about you take one for the team and let your club go to the Gold Coast. At least that way Victorian Football isnt losing a team with a great history and winning culture and never say die attitude.
