Apologies if this info was already known.
Brian Cook (CEO of Geelong);
But when asked if a new club entering the competition would make life tougher for clubs, the Cats' chief executive said Geelong hadn't discussed the thought of a proposed 17th AFL license.
"We only need to get involved…as a club when a new license is planned because we actually get a vote. We're the people who decide – the clubs," he said.
"But if you're talking about a relocated license, it's up to the AFL.
"The reality is we haven't got a strong position on it and we probably won't have one until we're forced to have one."

By the looks of things Essendon and Carlton will support a 17th licence, while the Roos, Colingwood, the Bulldogs and likely the Lions will be against it.
However all the AFL needs is the approval of 6 clubs. That's two so far. I'm sure the AFL can find four more clubs.

Are you sure that is correct?
I find it hard to believe that 10 clubs could vote against a new club, but that the votes of 6 clubs would be sufficient.
I would have thought that a simple majority would be the minimum requirement.

What would you do if your board said yes to relocation. If the board members, got their money out of this, and decided to move?

From my understanding Rule 15a states that any AFL commission decision to be overturned, two thirds of the clubs need to vote against that decision. For any structure change to the competition (and I don't know that relocations count as a "structure' change", but mergers certainly do as does issuing of any new licence), a majority of two thirds of the clubs must vote in favor of it.

Cheers.
That makes much more sense.
