They may not be in financial trouble like North, but if you want to move to least popular AFL club to Queensland, Port Adelaide are the one.

You can't compare a non-Vic team's crowds to a Vic team's crowds. Port's figures rely on their own supporters for half their games (they would only have minimal opposition supporters for their home games other than against the Crows). The Kangaroos have their figures inflated in Melbourne by the better supported Vic teams on a regular basis.
You also need to take into account the fact that the Kangaroos don't play Fremantle outside of Perth - instead of having a very low drawing game, they either sell a game interstate for guaranteed income, or play a higher drawing Vic team in Melbourne.
In reality, the crowd figures are irrelevant anyway - it's about being financially viable. If Port were $4m in debt and living off AFL handouts then I'd probably agree with you.
How many of those patrons at Kangaroo games are from opposition Melbourne clubs? You would find that a true statistic of North supporters attending games would be dead last, and you know it.
Those statistics are irrelevant and again, you know it.

You just pointed out the reason why the Kangas are in the gun, first of all Richmond who didn't win a game for 3/4 of the season and finished dead last had the 3rd best average of crowds, not only that the Demons who had an abominable season as well had better drawing crowds than the Kangas, the Roos even though making the Top 4 couldn't managed more crowd than any side that finished lower than them on the ladder.
I don't want any team to go, nor do I think it is a good idea to have another team in QLD but the Kangaroos are the only logical choice.

North played Collingwood once, Richmond once, Essendon once, Carlton twice, Melbourne twice, Western Bulldogs twice.
Richmond played Collingwood twice, Essendon twice, Carlton once, North once, Melbourne once and the Bulldogs once.
Richmonds game against Carlton was at the MCG with Carlton coming off a Night Premiership.
Norths home game against Carlton was at Carrara, there away game at TD in rnd 22 when most Carlton supporters probably couldnt give a stuff and didnt show up.
North played Adelaide at Carrara, Richmond played them at AAMI.

Maybe you should just play Collingwood for 22 weeks in a row (No more of a comprised draw than it is already, and I'm sure Collingwood would be happy with 0 interstate trips) Would that help the bottom line though?

Port membership: 34k
North membership: 22k
Comparing apples and oranges with the crowd numbers - why not compare Roo matches against interstate sides against Port numbers against interstate sides? Being a 2 team state, Port doesn't have the luxury of Vic teams having opposition supporters taking up a significant portion of the crowd figures.

agree with most of the replies here. obviously the OPs argument is flawed.

The reason for this draw is because you haven't drawn the crowds in the past. You get more cash for playing Carlton at Carrara than in Melbourne, sad but true.

I'm tired of this argument..To paraphrase it..
"We don't get big crowds because we don't play the teams that get big crowds"
Sorry, your team doesn't get crowds because YOUR TEAM doesn't draw crowds.
You could juts as easily argue that the Collingwood, Essendon & Richmond numbers are lower because we have to play you.

yeah, righto sunshine
You can't compare a non-Vic team's crowds to a Vic team's crowds.Of course you can. Bums on seats are bums on seats. They all fart the same and crap food purchased with the same currency.
Not that you can base it on attendances alone but on some of the arguments for North not being viable in Melbourne, Brisbane are not viable in Brisbane and Port are not viable in Adelaide. What they have is large markets with limited competition though. Arguably the second licence for Adelaide could have gone to a franchise with wider appeal. Personally I think Port deserved it and being a club with a history is a plus. On that same argument though why mover North?

If you take crowd averages from just our Melbourne games (so, not including the Gold Coast games where 17 people turned up, half of them with free tickets), I think our average goes to about 34k. Not that it matters too much.
Most important is that the 'football hungry' Gold Coast public attended North games in droves. We got more to a game against Footscray on a Sunday afternoon than to those 3 games combined.
What a footballing mad area that is. Give them 4 teams. Joke.
(so, not including the Gold Coast games where 17 people turned up, half of them with free tickets)
What free tickets? I had to buy mine all 4 times. This is a myth. Kids maybe got free tickets, adults paid. Your numbers are a bit out too, and for what it is worth, the Gold Coast games were not your 4 least profitable were they?

Sorry, your team doesn't get crowds because YOUR TEAM doesn't draw crowds.
Where does the circle start and where does it end?
We don't get good attendances, so we get scheduled to play against the smaller teams more. That affects our attendances, and is then used as justification why we shouldn't get a better draw.
Even it up, give everyone the same opportunity to play each other and you'll find that Norths (and Bulldogs, probably Demons) attendances look much better in comparison.
The AFL have decided that making money out of blockbusters is more important than the integrity of the draw, which I disagree with but I doubt that will ever change now. But it certainly has a negative impact on the attendances of clubs like North.
