From the Calder Cannons, utility Koulouriotis was Port's first choice at the 1999 national draft. He struggled through the 2000 and 2001 seasons with knee and hamstring problems. Strangely enough, he was told by coach Mark Williams that he had his best year with West Adelaide in 2003 but that Port was letting him go. Found himself at Geelong where he played 18 games in 3 seasons.
