More info on Brayden Lyle
A hard working midfielder who won the award as SA's best player in the 1997 clash with Victoria.
It was a remarkable turnaround for the man who returned to his original club Port Adelaide after 25 games in three years at West Coast.
With the Eagles he had looked nothing more than a stopper of restricted ability, but his path was blocked by stars like Kemp and Matera.
At Port he showed his creativity in the centre and was one of the team's leaders. He was appointed co-vice-captain and thrived on the leadership role.
With the development of Port's depth in midfield he struggled in 2001 as younger, quicker players overtook him and he was delisted at the end of the year.
