How did you rate the Akermanis's first year as a pup?
As a Dog, not a pup. :)
I thought he was alright, he wasn't outstanding, but was anyone really expecting him to dominate frequently? I think he worked hard and would have been frustrated at his inability to get over injuries at times, but seemed to run out the season fairly well. At times his team mates vision (or lack of) cost him when he had worked hard to create space going forward.

Looked very good towards the business end of the season when most of the squad didn't. Will be better in 08 with hopefully a full preseason this time round.
And will have settled here in Melb.....new home, new team, new teammates, just generally getting to know the place and people...Its all very strange and takes time.....I'm sure he will come back rearing to go in 2008....cheers and good luck for the new season..
The numerous hamstring injuries at the start of the year werent good and i think he struggled for form from that.
Hopefully he can get a full pre season in with no hicups and we should see an improved Aker for 2008.

After the first half of season
Looked the real deal late in matches, like the Port match.
I think we are to used to applauding players like "West" who do not have the ability to turn matches around with brief decisive talented pieces of play.

New surroundings for Aker and the hamstring concerns at the beginning of the season set him back a little, he showed definite signs in the second half of the season, I feel season 2008 for Aker will be much better for him after getting a full pre-season under his belt.

Ditto
Ditto
And ditto - missing a lot of footy the season before and early hammies did the first half of his season no good.

He will have the correct preparation now and not have the dramas & stress of some twelve months ago when he crossed over to us from Bris. He will be starting to feel at home now, so I expect we will see a fully 'ready to go' Aker this coming season.
When he is on
Running full pelt towards an empty flank and when he gets it booting a 50 metre goal.

Was also sick in hospital were he lost about 10 kilos.
Not to mention
Bringing Wayde and Andrej's into the game late through his kicking in the match against the "Saints"

Aker struggled from what most have said above, but I think the fact that we played so ordinary this year contributes too. It doesn't make things easy when you're getting pumped and teammates aren't kicking to you.
Full Pre-season and the entire group back on track will see him play much better football, IMO. He's a star, he won us games against Fremantle & Port Adelaide in a few minutes of blistering football.
I can't wait to see Aker next year. I pray he and the rest of the team stay injury free.
Finals are his domain.

I was happy with Aker's efforts over the year, not up to his best early, but showed the usual Aker brilliance and helped us win a few. The port game where he kicked two identical goals in 20 seconds was one of my highlights of the season. I'm looking forward to an even better Aker next year.
I thought Aker had a real go. What i think is the difference between the Aker of now and the Aker of five or six years ago is that his his kicking does not damage teams like it used to.

Quite a few times Aker could be accused of just bombing it into the fifty.
That said, he won us 1 or 2 games off his own boot. Full pre-season and more settled in shuold do wonders for him.
needs to kick more accurately if he is playing predominately as a small forward.
I think we got the better end of the deal with Brisbane. (pick 34 for Acker). Had a pretty dissapointing year though, considering he is a player on around 400,000 a year and didnt come in the top 10 in our best and fairest. You are a fool though to think a fit Acker will make a big difference to our side next year, you cant expect players over 30 to win you a premiership
