There is already one of these threads going on the Melbourne and Fremantle boards, but it seems like a good idea, so:

Here they are, the Top 100 Reasons to be excited about 2008, as decided by Bulldogs forum members:
1 - The return of Minson and the recruitment of Hudson equals a competent ruck division in 2008.
2 - Finishing in the lower half of the ladder means the weight of expectation will not be as great as in 2007.
3 - Ryan Griffen. Due for a big, injury-free 'breakthrough' year.
4 - Adam Cooney having an injury free pre season
5 - Shaun Higgins having a full pre-season and being another year fitter & stronger.
6 - looking at the draw and my work schedule, i will get to go to THREE games! (one in Perth, one @ TD, one @ AAMI). (Well makes me excited, anyway)
7 - The continued development of Tom Williams and Andrejs Everitt.
8 -The redevelopment of Whitten Oval into an elite training and community facility.
9 - Our revamped coaching panel. A change might be all we needed.
10 - A few Friday night games early up = more exposure = more money
11 - It's 54 since '54!
12 - We get to see another Bulldog champion reach the 300 game milestone.
13 - We play in Tassie! And all across the country, spreading the brand.
14 - We get to play with a better ruckman in our team.
15 - It's not 2007
16 - Expectations on our team are lower than what they were last season
17 - We will have two new top 20 picks that will develop and be very exciting players.
18 - there are 18 Bulldogs on the field in every game, which always excites me. By the way, nobody wears jumper No. 18. That's probably a good omen in some remote part of the world.
19 - We will be harder at the ball, with the additions of Hudson and Callan along with Minson and Hahn returning.
20 - Smorgo wanting to stay on and continue to be the Presidante!
21 - New Assistant coaches brings a breath of fresh air to the club
22 - We get to take on the Tigers with one more good reason to beat them.
23 - We may get an opportunity to unearth new supporters in Dubai (FFS!) in the pre-season.
24 - Murphy to continue to strengthen after coming back from a knee reco this season.
25 - One year closer to the debuts of Murph and Grant jr
26 - Another new membership scarf and hat with 2008 on it!
27 - Having #5 and #19 - with the potential to unearth some talent (possibly a ff)
28-Brian Harris will go in to 2008 as a B&F winner, and will play the first 2 rounds (touch wood)
29 - We have one of the most talented mid-fields in the comp i.e. West, Cross, Boyd, Cooney, Ray and Griffen, and the addition of a decent ruck and tagger will only make them more potent.
30- Cooney and Cross will become part of the competitions' mid-field elite !
31- Fevola gets to be Dale Morris' B**** again
32- Williams and Everitt have put on 5kg each
33- We didn't trade for Ken McGregor
34- Hudson, unlike the rest of our team, grows facial hair and looks tough
35- Stephen Tiller #35 will be A a gun
36- We play six games in a row in Melbourne, so we can all go and see Johnson's 300th game (if we live in melbourne)
37- No more Sam Power!
38- We play at the Gabba where i have been to the last 2 games there, we have won, lets make it 3 in a row
39- Livewire Malcolm Lynch will improve and kick lots of goals.
40. Jarrod Harbrow will get a rising star nomination
41. Andrejs Everitt will win the Rising Star award
42- 12 more reasons till 54

43 - Dunno if this counts or not, but I met only the third bulldogs supporter I have ever met in Brisbane at work today (not including at the Gabba). If not, our membership is growing and should hit 32,000

Well...
Pigdog asks a valid question. Repeating the reason for the question isn't an answer.

Why are lower expectations good? Are we planning failure?
