it was great to see that 3 out of the 4 Leadership panel are from the South East Queensland Bushrangers.... GO THE BUSHIES!!!!!!

the leaders are:

CAPTAIN - Paul 'nugget' Shelton..... what a ledge!!!!!! i sooooo hope we draft him...... but he is too good to be left for when we get our draft selections...... (BUSHIES)

VICE CAPTAINS

Hayden 'h' Wilson.... superstar.... he is just such so enthusiastic about his footy & that's what we need..... (BUSHIES)

Tim 'TIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY' Harders... yay...... he is a medium sized player who can indeed play & if anyone watches that show on channel 10 on saturdays before the game him & nugget were on there with Michelle Cort the lions dietician cooking themselves some grub..... it was good.... (BUSHIES)

& last but certainly not least is
Chris Lambart... he is the biggest by 200000 miles of all the rest of the leaders.... can take a great mark & is very strong..... unfortunatley he is from the Northern Raiders... LOL (RAIDERS)

the bushies do have more players in the team... as you would expect of a team that won the state championships....

Chris 'cc' constable
Matty ' gilesey' Giles (Ledge)
Rory "roars' lake..... mate....

it is great to see nugget lead in the footsteps of Melbourne player and former bushie Brad Miller who was the U18 Captain from last year.....

Thanks for the info KG, I used to play footy with Chris Lambert a few years ago and last year at Wilston Grange he came down and trained with us a few times, he is a gun but he's got injury problems (he's already gone through pubis).

I would love it if someone I know made it to the AFL and even better ran out in Lions colors one day.

BTW, Don't you mean Northern Eagles?

Queensland has thrashed Tasmania by 58 points in the opening clash of the Division Two section of the Under 18 National Championships. The Maroons 14.12 (96) defeated Tassie 5.8 (38), in cool conditions at Optus Oval in Melbourne, after the Queenslanders ran over the top of Tasmania in the second half. Led by vice-captain Tim Harders and skipper Paul Shelton, the Queenslanders outplayed the Tasmanians after the main break, booting seven goals to one, in a comprehensive display. Harders racked up 21 possessions and booted two goals, while Shelton notched up 25 touches. Queensland’s Joel McDonald was also a solid contributor with 22 possessions, along with Mark Harris and Billy English who managed two goals each, while Kris Jahnke showed plenty of dash across half-back. It was a disappointing opening for Tasmania – the reigning title holder in the second division – although skipper Luke Shackleton, Trent McCrossen and Brett Robinson were some of the Apple Isle’s better players. In a skill-marred opening term, Tasmania’s Allan O’Sign kicked off the championships with the first goal of the match, before Queensland claimed a three-point lead at quarter-time. The sunshine state didn’t post its first major until mid-way through the term, when Harders kicked truly. The Queenslanders kicked five goals in the second term to lead by 20 points at half-time, which included two team-lifting goals from Arnold Knight, who started the match on the bench. Rory Lake also displayed his skill in the second quarter, when he threaded though a fine checkside goal from the pocket for Queensland. However, the Queenslanders turned it in on in the third quarter, when they booted five goals to zip in an impressive display of football that forced Tasmania to make costly turnovers at critical periods. This was shown when Jahnke rebounded out of defence and sent a spearing pass to Matthew Giles, who converted Queensland’s fifth to give the Maroons a 52-point lead at three-quarter time. But Tassie’s quarter turned from bad to worse when Chris Thurlow was carried from the ground. Queensland managed a further two goals in the final term, while Shackleton booted the Apple Isle’s only major – in the second half – late in the last quarter. QUEENSLAND 2.4 7.5 12.9 14.12 (96)TASMANIA 2.1 4.3 4.5 5.8 (38) GOALS: Queensland: English 2, Harders 2, Harris 2, Knight 2, Merrett 2, Giles, Hay, Lake, Pardew Tasmania: Crane, Laycock, O’Sign, Shackleton, Thurlow BEST: Queensland Harders, Shelton, MacDonald, English, Harris, Jahnke Tasmania: Shackleton, McCrossen, Robinson

NSW/ACT breaks through

NSW/ACT has recorded its first win of the Under 18 National Championships, with a 30-point win over Queensland on day three of the carnival. The blue and gold 9.11 (65) defeated the Scorpions 5.5 (35) in the third match of the division two section, at Skilled Stadium in Geelong on Tuesday. NSW/ACT led at every change and controlled the majority of the game, despite never running away with the match. Ryan Crawford – cousin of Hawthorn skipper Shane – was a stand out performer in the midfield for the NSW/ACT side, gathering 21 disposals (including 15 long kicks), while he sent the ball inside 50 on 11 occasions. Corey Brown, Shaun Daly and Brenton McAllister were other impressive ball-winners for the blue and gold. James Meiklejohn was another fine player for NSW/ACT, showing plenty of agility and guile around the ground for a big-man. His battle in the ruck with raw, yet promising Queenslander Daniel Merrett was a feature of the game. Queensland skipper Paul Shelton continued on from his impressive first-up match against Tasmania, with another fine performance for the Scorpions. He amassed 31 possessions (including 19 kicks and 12 handballs) and showed fine leadership for his side. Vice-captain Tim Harders claimed 24 touches and Joel MacDonald (22 disposals) had greater influence as the game progressed. NSW/ACT began the match in fine form, kicking three unanswered goals, before Harris posted Queensland’s first just on quarter-time. But the highlight of the opening term was a brilliant snap from the pocket by Brown, who bent back a beauty from an-almost impossible angle for the NSW/ACT side. Crawford was prominent from the word go, as was Shelton who had 11 touches in the opening term. NSW/ACT led by 13 points at quarter-time and extended the margin when McAllister kicked truly to open the second term. But Queensland fought back with two majors to trail by just four points, yet a Daly set-shot on the siren gave the NSW/ACT side a 10-point lead at the main break. Crawford, Daly, Brown and McAllister were shining lights in the first-half, racking up over 50 possessions between them by half-time. NSW/ACT peppered the goals in the third term, but managed just 2.6 from their return, while holding Queensland goalless for the quarter. And it wasn’t until the 15-minute mark when Meiklejohn – who starred during that period – posted NSW/ACT’s first for the second-half. Brad Cross was the only other goalscorer for the blue and gold, when he kicked truly with his first kick of the game. NSW/ACT gained a 28-point advantage heading into the final hit-out, but when Queensland banged two in succession to kick-start the last quarter, the Scorpions reduced the margin to three goals. Harris had an opportunity to reduce NSW/ACT’s lead even further when he sprayed a kick on the full, while running into goal. But a Peter Dugmore major and Bo Nixon’s second gave the blue and gold some breathing space and in the end the four points. NSW/ACT 3.1 5.1 7.8 9.11 (65) QUEENSLAND 1.0 3.3 3.4 5.5 (35) GOALS: NSW/ACT: Nixon 2, Brown, Cross, Daly, Dugmore, McAllister, Meiklejohn, Murray QLD: Constable, Harris, MacDonald, Merrett, Pask BEST: NSW/ACT Crawford, Meiklejohn, Brown, Daly, McAllister, Dugmore, Staker QLD: Shelton, Harders, MacDonald, Merrett, Harris, Pardew
