So was there any promotions off the rookie list and was anyone else retained?

Harbrow promoted to the senior list, Hughes retained on the rookie list, MWest and Pask released.

I suppose the issue with Hughes

Was that he took time after coming off injury to show something.

Which he did, but unfortunately late in the year; too late to make a conclusive decision.

Good thing is that he will be retained as a rookie player.

As far as being a senior AFL player, the verdict is still out.

Gav is still in charge of his own destiny, and it may still be as an AFL player. His call just like Matthew Boyd and Dale Morris previously treaded down the same path at the Dog's.

He gets another chance which tells me that the coaches think he has AFL value in some of the areas of his game but he lacking in some others.
I saw him a number of times with both Werribee sides and in my opinion he just doesn't display the defensive skills required.
If he addresses that he might be able to work himself into contention at the end of the 2008 season.

Do you know what the nature of the injury was earlier with him in 07; "OS" ?

I think I saw him twice and I wasn't really super impressed by him at all. He reminded me of Mcormack.

I have some notes from the games I attended but from memory it was a leg injury. He was injured early in the season came back and then missed a couple of weeks towards the end of the season. Played a couple of games in the two's.
He had a nice run of 3 to 4 weeks and was often one of the better players.

His kicking needs some work as well.

Agreed. There is a big difference between his better and poorer efforts.
Unless you are talking about the blonde hair, he is quicker than McCormack but not as tough in a contest.

Retained on the Rookies list. My understanding is that he is now in the draft. He can only be rookie listed after the last draft. Is this the case?

I think he has the choice of remaining with the Bulldogs as a rookie, or as Travis Baird (Brisbane) did a few years back, nominating for the draft.
