I know you're all getting sick of kruezer threads.
I was wondering how good of a mark he is.
Is he a good pack mark? and he seems like he'd be able to get away from most tall backmen hearing about his sprint time. is he a good mark on the lead?
When he was up forward, it was more about his superior height and strength that saw his take his marks. Not a lead up forward at all. When he plays in the ruck, it's his mobility around the ground that gets him into space, which generally sees him take alot of uncontested marks.

Uses his body well in the 1 on 1's and will take the odd pack mark. But as HBF said, he gets most of his marks by getting on the bike and working up and down the ground into space.

I'd be very happy with him playing somewhere in the forward line.
We don't have many good contested marks up forward. Fisher can take some great contested marks. Fevola doesn't use his body well enough.
But we don't have a really big forward who just uses muscle to beat his opponent one on one. (Hall, Gehrig, Rocca, ETC)
^^^^
Don't expect him to be doing that for a little while DB. He has to get his body conditioned for the AFL, and that will take him some time to achieve.

If i can chip in, his reading of the ball in the air is faultless, as it with his ruckwork, if he isn't marking the ball he will be at the contest and usually bring the ball to ground. as TGR said he uses his body well and doesn't have that unco/awkwardness a lot if skinny 200cm ruckmen have at U18 level.
Some stats:
2006 TAC: Avg 4.8 marks per game (42% contested)
2007 TAC: Avg 5.3 marks a game (47% contested, which would be close to highest % contested in the TAC)
I wouldn't have thought that nearly half of his marks were contested. Fan-bloody-tastic.

And this is one of his greatest assets IMO. Keeps him a step ahead of the game.

lol makes me think of deluca, and his brother at port/sturt at the moment. Their ability to read the flight of the ball can be. hmmm unconvincing at times

As bad as they are/were, they've got nothing on Ackland and McKernan in that department.

unfortunately for us sturt/carlton supporters we cannot escape the delucas due to fabs not being good enough to leave us. So yes, i'll try make everyone else suffer a bit with me...

by the way. i cannot wait to see kreuzer live next year. 2 adelaide games + first preseason + travel to melbourne games. might have to venture to a bullants game to see him early in season.

he certainly was. hard to say. burst onto the scene first few games looked to be a good winger but has a tiny frame. as the season progressed got beat up a bit, pushed off the ball eddie betts style way too much especially in finals.
has a bit of pace though and disposal pretty good. i wouldnt think hes close to ready but a couple of preseasons and some bulk away from being decent.
definitely has the 'flash' that should see him drafted, late though.
but thats what we thought about tom hurley last year so i dont know.

Oh i know he won't be doing that for a while. but it seems like he could achieve that if he is built up for that.
Also remember guys. right now he's... 96 kilos is it??
He's still got a few kilos to put on and when he does. he's not going to be as fast as he is now.

More like Melbourne Uni. Great grounds opposite the river facing Victoria Drive.

I know Johnny Mac personally, and can tell you that he is one kid that might go "under the radar" a bit. Regularly had over 40 kicks a game in the u/17s a couple years back. Last year in the pre-season testing he was 2nd quickest at Sturt over 100M while bouncing the ball, has a long and accurate raking left foot and reads the play really well. And kicks through the high diddle pretty much every time.
Super engine (did a lot of competitive cycling as a kid) and genuine competitive streak. Only remains as unknown as he is at present due to missing the U/18 champs after getting busted with a few others out on the sauce with some of the senior Sturt blokes.

Can Kruezer's work ethic as a forward be compared to that of Reiwoldt's only much slower ? (ie. does he constantly lead out down the ground?)

Not really, you'd be stupid to use Kreuz in that role.....instead he is a ruckman who runs around and follows the play like a James Hird and has an enginie to support it.

He sounds very Josh Fraser-ish to me, but without the co-ordination of a Meditteranean sea-slug?!?

No doubt he has the potential and ability. But our forward line (Espescially the half-forward line) is getting extremely crowded.
The talents of Fev, Waite and Fisher already give us 3 big targets, if Kreuzer develops there, would it be unnecessary? Perhaps that means Waite can just focus on being a CHB, he has said he doesn't mind playing CHF or CHB.

Waite will spend a lot more time at CHB next year due to the departure of Whitnall, whom between them, covered CHB for most of 2007. The loss of Kennedy, Lance and the need for an experienced tall at CHB (Waite) leaves the half forward line looking particularly depleated. I would like to see a ruck/CHF combination made up from 3 of; Kreuzer, Hampson, Cloke and Aisake. Obvioulsy Kreuzer doesn't have the body to play 22 rounds of football and the other will need to be rotated due to form, injury and fitness.
