"While Monday morning’s media conference was scheduled to announce what the club believes to be an AFL record sponsorship"

"Carlton announced the a three-year deal with Hyundai, one which Swann thinks will be “the most lucrative sponsorship in AFL football if not any type of sport in the country.
“Having been involved in a number of major announcements over my period in football, this is the biggest one that I’ve been involved with,” Swann said."

Everybody assumed all the talk about a "record sponsorship deal" had to do with Air Etihad (or however you spell it). Could this Hyundai deal simply be it?

It would appear so.

Especially since nothing has actually been mentioned through the club of the arab airline rumour.

Asked the same question - latest word is that the airline deal fell over about 2 weeks ago although find it a little hard to believe as these eals are usually in the pipeline for significant periods!!
