Does anyone know the whereabouts of Chad atm?

Any chance of him not repeating last years "incidents"?

He's laying low.

As long as it isnt as low as last year....

Work on hitting a target under pressure Chad, it will be needed much more this season.

his field kicking this year when on the park was spot on.

No it wasnt.

When under no presure he would turn it over consistently.

27 clangers in 9 games, 3 clangers a game.

Too many for my liking, especiallly since he had little game time compared to seasons previous.

Kerr indeed averaged 3.23 clangers per game, 55 from 17, but those would have been under pressure more times than not.

Fletcher not so much.

no injuries and hel have a great year

Lets hope so.

BM, you really have to come to a game with me next year.

You'll get on with my old man like a house on fire - groaning in unison each time Fletch gets the ball.

Is it that obvious? :D

Look he is a great player when following the ball. His hands are quick and left foot can be very deadly. Only the left though.

Tackling can also be quite good.

BUT he gives it up far too much for a player of his caliber ?(is that the yanky way to spell it?) and it must improve this season.

MUST.

He is uselss on he HFF flank or down back.

He must be roving or centre at best for him to have an impact season 08, imo.

Lets see it happen Chad. :thumbsu:

Better lift his game cause he might have trouble getting in the team in the near future (could be next year) if all these young gun middies turn out like expected. Next year will determine his future I feel, so he better get cracking.

Wish we traded him 2 years ago when he might have been worth something

I have had my times of groaning when Chad has turned the ball over when not under pressure but, you never know...maybe the extra responsibility he will now have as being one of the most senior mids may actually improve his game. He will need to set an example for the younger players and should hopefully be injury free unlike last year.

With the recruitment of more in and under players i.e. masten and sellwood he wont have to change his game style too much and he does have the ability to put on a run of great games as his AA selection in the past has proved.

Fletch struggle with injuries last season, he never seem to get started. I thought he show that he still can be a very good player in the away games against the Crows and Hawks.

I'm not ready to write him off just yet. Would love to see Fletch have a great year.

Aye me to - Would have been able to get sometinhg valuable for him back then...not anymore :(

Ive never really liked Fletcher as a player - Yes he is a ball magnet but his quality of disposal is shocking at times - Ive always been a believer or Quality over Quantity meaning i would rpefer someone to only get 14 possesions a game and all hit an eagles target rather then someone who gets 30 a game and only half hit the target.

With Judas and Cuz gone from the team he has a chance to cement a spot in the midfield - Hopefully he can get his disposals right and stay in as we need as much experience in the middle as possible.

Cant see any point playing him even if he is playing well.

McNamara or Butler or Rosa will do just as well and they will develop.

Or could blood Ebert or Masten.

Bump

You're all on notice.

Expect a return to 2004 form for the #7:thumbsu:

The 7-11 partnership this year will be a sight to behold.

Constructive criticism is fine but groaners will not be tolerated in this thread. (And yes, BM I'm looking at you :)).

Priddis > Fletcher.

Nah just jokes, but serious, I will be quiet until such time Fletcher does something wrong.

45 secs gone 1st qtr Rnd 1 2008 is my bet.

Will be good to see him get a touch early though.

Averages around 4 errors a game, so might as well get em out of the road early.

Was ranked third last year for the Eagles in average disposals per game.

4th actually.

And most of them went straight to the opposition. Fletcher is garbage.

I used pro-stats which has Fletch ranked third (using 5 games a s minimum qualification). Top 5 were :

Kerr 27.4
Cousins 24.9
Fletcher 23.8
Priddis 23.7
Judd 23.4
Now on allthestats they have Fletcher's average as 23.5 which might explain the discrepancy. So third or fourth probably depends on who you use for the stats as there is bugger all difference.

For 2007, Pro-stats have Fletcher averaging 4.0 errors per game from an average of nearly 24 disposals per game. I would assume that a disposal "straight to the opposition" would count as an error - which means that no more than 1 in 6 disposals go straight to the opposition.

Now that might be your definition of most but it isn't mine.

For the record, Judd, Cousins and Kerr all averaged over 3 errors per game - but we don't see too much criticism of their disposal.

Fletcher is an easy target because people look for his mistakes to confirm their opinion of him, whilst overlooking mistakes by others they see as being less fallible.

If Fletcher was garbage he would not have earnt an AA jumper, nor finished top 5 in our B&F 4 times.

I expect I'll being making posts like this regularly in 2008.:)

Clearly the stats website doesn't consider dodgy kicks to a team mates ankles that ricochet God knows where or handballs to a guy under so much pressure he gets tackled as soon as he touches the ball or kissing Mark Nicoski on national TV after a Grand Final victory 'errors'.
