View Full Version : Music Rivalries

What rivalries have been around in music over the years?

Robbie Williams and Liam Gallagher have wanted to go at it for a while. Then again, Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher have been going at it for a while too! ;)

Likewise, Robbie Williams' old mates in Take That apparently wanted to have it out with East 17 (I suppose they would have all been able to pull killer dance moves on each other  ).

Sharon Osbourne threatened to get husband Ozzie to beat up Billy Corgan, after their managerial relations went sour.

What others are there?

Suzi DeMarchi (Baby Animals) beat up Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes)

Apprently it went something like this:

Robinson: "If you wanna sing like a man, you gotta have BALLS."

DeMarchi: *BAMM!*

Incorrect!

AC/DC had a fight with Purple's road crew not the band on stage at Sunbury '75.

The Beach Boys. During the 70s there were 2 factions within the group. Basically Mike Love and Alan Jardine v Dennis and Carl Wilson. Managers were sacked, band members were ganged up on and beaten up and the ultimate, the two seperate planes of band members etc stopping en route to somewhere and having a full-on fight on some tarmac.

Classic stuff. :D

I think you'll find that Courtney Love has been involved in more "beating off" of members of the music fraternity, than those who she has "beaten up".

Quite a list too, I might add.

I doubt anyone would care enough about Eminem to even bother farting in his general direction. :o

Then again, it could be another case of "beating off" rather than "beating up", if Eminem's new mates in Elton John and Boy George are involved . . .

If you want a real rap showdown, you'd have to go for Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.

My mail says that two members of Deep Purple were actually involved, albeit no punches from them. Punches were definitely thrown by Phil Rudd, Bon and Malcolm and a number of the Purple roadies. Apparently they were outnumbered 8-3 but old Bon was in fine form and quickly sorted the men from the boys ..... great story !

Karl from Underworld and one of the guys from the Fun Lovin Criminals had a bit of biffo during the tour of the 1999 BDO. Apparently they were both trying to see the chick from Sleeper.

Funny stuff. Who hasn't she slept with? I am led to believe that Kurt killed himself because he knew she was sleeping with Billy Corgan, who was one of her exes, and she went on to bang afterwards too.

Courtney likes slanging matches. Marilyn Manson, the remaining members of Nirvana, Trent Reznor (only after they were together).

I also seem to recall hearing/reading once that some of the members of Metallica used to beat up on each other.

Although it probably didn't come down to blows, The Beatles were also known to have fought amongst themselves regularly, even to the extent of messing around in each others songs on purpose!

Billy Corgan was known for being a bit of a mad maven with the Pumpkins, basically controlling the ship himself (much to the dislike of other bands members at times), and likewise fellow band-mates James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky had a few public spats following the breakup of their relationship.

Eddie VH pizz'd off both his frontmen....Bad Mistake

Sure, DLR & Sammy had thier tangles in the past but the music style always is the winner. I don't like to compare as I think they are damned great in thier own right.

Only a Rockin' duet remains.....:D
