Very skinny plays outside but has good pace & skills will probably start in the Coburg reserves.
Don't rate him poor pick.

Pass is effectivly a big bodied ruckman. He has had injury troubles but he was a highly touted junior. We is more of a tap ruckman who will probably be used in Coburg unless Pattison and Simmonds are injured. He has been tried at the level before and has failed. Supposibly he has been "training the house down" at Richmond in the pre-season.
Pass = Guy Richards PSD

I think pass in his footy is underated. You need him to get the balls to the other players

Given that Kids like Gaertner, Gourdis and McGinnty were still available at Pick 64 could we have picked one of these guys and delisted another player to free up a spot.
If it came to a pick between a Matthew White or Kel Moore versus one of the above three kids, the kids surely have more upside.
Thoughts anyone

1) Both Matty white and Kel Moore have contracts. Means we pay out Kelvin one year or matty white 2 years which are remaining on their contracts.
2) We can still select one of these kids in the pre-season draft where we have selection 1. EG we picked up matty white a few years ago using our pre-season draft pick.
This case we get the player you are after, with out terminating a players contract.
3) Rookie draft, we also have selection 1 here to get first grab.
It was easier to pass and work out our list and think about the idea of who we select over the next few weeks. Rather this than a rushed 2 second thought about picking up a player later on.
The only reason for not passing would be if we wanted a bottom-age (17 year old). These guys (Gaertner, Rockliff, Smouha) are not elligable for the PSD or rookie.
Gaertner and Smouha can't kick, and taking Rockliff would be silly with Cotchin secured and playing forward for a year or two.
So PASS makes sense.

Pass will be a better option than ... say ... a Ray Hall

More Pass than Class...

Weaver, are you sure about that? Have the rules changed? I thought the PSD was for anyone who'd nominated for a National Draft before, you could take a bottom aged kid in the PSD, but if they were eligible for U18s next year then they couldn't be rookied.
Richmond were in the box seat to get him :p:D
I've been to games that Pass was playing and I never saw him..... I'm not sure about this pick, maybe we should have passed on pass and waited for the PSD or rookie draft???? is Pass bottom aged?
Breaking news ........apparently Richmond has forfieted it's 64th pick which they used on Pass, because they didn't read out his number!!!!!! How stupid are we.... this could bight us

Ray Hall provided far more value than the average top-15 selection.
Every side would love a Ray Hall at the position we drafted him.
Take a look at the 1998 draft and tell me which players drafted after Ray Hall at pick #79 you'd have preferred. Out of the players drafted before him, 80% provided far less value, 95% were never challenged to anywhere near the same degree - the majority are fringe players given the luxury of occasional decent performances in bit-roles Ray Hall was never afforded, or never came close to cutting it at senior level even for a fringe role.
The Eagles drafted Brandon Hill at #10, Michael O'Brien at #26, and Scott Bennett at #69. Who? Three games between them in the WCE's darkest era. You can bet your arse they'd have preferred Ray Hall at #10 in exchange for all three of them.
We drafted James White, Mark Dragicevich and Matthew Greig ahead of him. Which of those were better players who provided better value to the club than Hall did by himself?
Ray Hall was a significant draft victory and anyone who says otherwise simply doesn't understand the draft or football in general.
