Nice to see Johnson out of the team. That's what I want to see by years end and if Raines keeps turning the ball over he can go to

Would love to see newman up on the wing and hitting the forwards on the chest
Would give thursfirld the best forward as i think he will be 1 of the best defenders in the league in a few years
I put reiwoldt in full forward as richo needs to be leading up to the wing as well as pettifar those to work great together
Well woudlnt cotchin foley deledio be a great midfield in a few years would be one of the fastest going around it would be a kerr judd cousins midfield
Edwards and brown at the feet on reiwoldt would work well and brown leading up if he needs to
I would give bowden the licence to go anywere in the backline and just be loose and letting him run of half backs
OVERALL I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE TIGERS RUN AND CARRY AND PLAY AND EXCITING BRAND OF FOOTBALL AND TAKE A FEW RISKS :):):):)

Im looking forward to the future, Terry and Miller are finding players to take over when they retire
Richo - Reidwolt
Gaspar - Thursfield
Brown - Cotchin
Simmonds - Pattison
Bowden - ? (Newman maybe)

My 2008 line up is:

King Thursfield McGuane
McMahon Polak Newman
Polo Deledio Tambling
Pettifer Richo Edwards
Brown Reidwolt Connors
Simmo Foley Cotchin
Morton Rance Pattison Couglahn

Emer: Johnson Jackson Tuck

Tuck needs to work on his kicking skills and option decisions. he is very sloppy and his accuracy in passing is 50%, i know he is a clearance slam on the boot player but i think that we have all these outside mids now he needs to look for options with handballs

ps. Meyer please prove me wrong, pick 12

Hate to break it to you boys, but Joel Bowden is still the best player in our defensive half and will be even better once he becomes loose again. He won't be out of the side by the end of the year

Don't think he'll be out of the side but rising 31 at the end of the 08 season might see Wallace starting to look at a player to replace Bowden. Heading into the 09 season I think Bowden could be a dangerous pinch hitter coming of the bench about 5-10 minutes into a quarter and floating around the HF line where he can find space and use his kicking skills to great effect.

I think this is where Wallace will turn to someone like Polo who has played well on Franklin (albeit at VFL level) but can also be a very dangerous player if left to do his own thing. I also think that was part of the reason we chased McMahon so hard. Can be a similar style player in that QB role now that we have Will, McGuane and Rance to play as the 3 taller backmen.

who thinks that with the aquisition of rance, polak could play at half forward? we saw what he did against collingwood and i think he go good there

Anyone who has Moore still on our list at the end of 2008 should have a good hard look at themselves.

End of 2008 season

B: Connors Thursfield Bowden

Connors is the obvious big surprise, but his height and strength make it easier for Conners to shut down players in one on one contests than it is for Jake King. Plus, King's ability to win the footy is covered with Bowden, McMahon and Newman also in the back 50. Thursfield is the obvious choice for Full Back, and Bowden in the back-pocket allows him to continue 'quaterbacking'.

HB: McMahon McGuane Newman

McMahon and Newman write themselves in at these positions, their ability to win the ball and use it guarantee them the back flank positions. McGuane will probably have the Centre Half Back position from Polak and Rance simply because Polak can fill another position elsewhere, and Rance is a rookie backman, which ever rarely come into the best 22 at the end of the season. In saying that, Rance is undoubtedly the key position backman of the future (along with Thursfield).

C: Polo Deledio Raines

Polo gets the centreman's role as a tagger, which he has done on various occassions throughout his career. The Tigers lack a quality tagger, outside of Kane Johnson, but chances (and hopes) are that Polo will be better at it, and better at obtaining possessions than Captain Kane. The emergence of Foley, the return of Coughlan, the drafting of Cotchin, and the presence of Tuck will force Deledio into a centre position, where his run and carry will be vital for quick movement of the football. I can honestly see Deledio being the most important player in the line-up at the end of the home and away season for that very reason. Raines will have a similar role to that of Deledio, however, his 'take-'em on' mentality is useable and needed for this team - plus his 'grunt' make him a player that can play a role regardless of how many touches he gets per contest.

HF: Tambling Richardson Morton

Richardson loves to lead up the ground these days, which is more of a modern Centre Half Forward than a Full Forward. Tambling and Morton are both midfielders with pace and skill, but with a keen sense for the goals. Both will push into the midfield at times, and both will be relied on to kick more than a few goals throughout the course of the season.

F: Brown Polak Pettifer

Brown's got the smarts, Pettifer's got the kicking and marking ability. At the end of the day, most teams will struggle to shut Brown down on any given day, let alone both Pettifer and Brown. The Full Forward position is in my opinion, the one thats most up for grabs. You've got guys like Polak, Pattison, Riewoldt, Schulz and a few others all possibilities here. But I have Polak. He's definatley one of the top 5 Key position players, but with Thursfield at full back, and what could be a scratch match between Rance and McGuane for the the other key back position, Polak's future as a backman is limited. Meanwhile, there is a glaring hole up forward which Polak could fill.

R: Simmonds Coughlan Foley

Simmonds is the best ruckman we have. Foley looks to be the best clearance player we have. Those two are almost what you'd call 'walk up starts' in the best 22. That would mean, at the start of the season at least, there would be a few players vying for the other follower. Coughlan, Cotchin and Tuck are probably the three most noteables. Tuck will probably start there at the beginning of the season, however, hopefully Coughlan recovers well enough, and hasn't lost much of his abilities and takes the position which others have kept warm for him over the last two seasons.

I: Tuck Cotchin Pattison Johnson

Tuck plays as the all-around/ jack-of-all-trades player. Wallace could move him on the ball, put him squarely in the corridor, or put him in the forward line. His ability to win the ball, and take a mark mean that he should stick in the best 22. Cotchin is a young guy who should be in the team by the end of the season. But as a rookie player, I don't have the cojones to give him a spot over Coughlan, Foley, Deledio, Raines or Polo. But is definatley a player who is in the best 22. Pattison is one that fills not only a back-up ruck role, but also can move into a key position forward role at times. And Regardless of whether or not Johnson should be in the team or not, he is a leader, he is the captain and he needs to be in the game to be able to do that one thing that is vital in any sports - lead.

EMER: Oakley-Nicholls King Riewoldt

Riewoldt seems to me to be penned in as Richardson's successor. King is a dynamite player who I love to watch play, but his height or lack thereof make it a little hard for him to break into the best 22. However, his improvement throughout the year was outstanding, and there is no reason whatsoever why I will not be wrong on the call not to be in the best 22 at the end of the season. And Oakley-Nicholls plays very much like Tuck I believe. A guy who can go into the midfield and and be an outside player, but he was also used very well as a backman in the VFL last season; and could be primed for a similar role in the team next season.

It's not a bad side with a full list to choose from.

Coburg will be pretty damn strong too. :thumbsu:

The only change from the above I'd have at the beginning of the season is McGuane for Rance.
