Surely Rama should do the team a favour and just retire. Luke Darcy claimed in the 2 years he missed the game had got alot faster and forced him into retirement. Surely Rama is now just wasting a spot on the list....

Bit like Vandenberg for his entire career ey:rolleyes:. Difference is that Rama is more talented than Darcy and has the will and passion to play.

So Darcy didnt have the passion to play?

Hell ill admitt probably on talent alone Rama is ahead of Vanders, but the difference is Vanders has the pride and love of a team to know where his pressence is actually affecting it. Rama is to selfish to realise his time is done and his wasting a spot

Would you delist the bloke honestly?

I know it would be hard delisting a bloke who has gone through so much but at times you have to wonder if its the best thing for the club. Offer him a coaching or mentoring role or something.

Well Darcy actually did not have the passion to play which was one of his main reasons for retiring. Ramanauskas will have the chance to get a full pre season under him and will be all the better for it. He is good enough to be in the best 18 and is still fairly young. He has the respect of all players in the AFL not just at Essendon. What have you go against Rama anyway? Would think he would be one player even scum like you would leave alone:thumbsd:

Honestly.

I wouldn't have him in the starting 22, but I honestly think he should not be delisted in the circumstances. You can only delist so many players in one season. Hird, Campo, Bolton, Heffernan, Johnson all went because of their age. Bradley and Cole because they weren't up to it. Players like Jason Johnson, Andrew Lee and Courtney Johns might have been the ones to go if they did not have a year to run on their contract.

You can't just clean out a dozen senior players, how are you going to replace them in a weak draft? Considering Rama is still 26, made his way back to the AFL with severely limited preparation, he is worth keeping as he could still be a player for us.

In the circumstances of our club, keeping Rama was an easy decision.

Yeah good point you had a lot of crap to clean out, and as you said it was a weak draft. But surely if either form or injury effects Rama's 08 campaign the club must begin to seriously weight up their options when it comes to his career.

Rama will be on our list for the next two seasons. If he is not good enough then he will retire, simple as that.

Obviously he will be 29 by then, but if your as hopefull as the rest of your supporters you surely must think your club will be in a position to contend for a premiership in 2 seasons. Throw in how many good young mids you have developing Knights will surely want to give them game time over the next 2 seasons. Rama will have to prove alot to hold a spot in pretty much an experimental year in 08 when it comes to rotating some kids and trying them out in new positions.

Where is this rubbish coming from anyway. Let him do a preseason and get some games under his belt. He still has the skills and footy brain to be a good player. If he gets his fitness right he could easily hold down a spot.

Besides, isn't this a bit hypocritical coming from a Hawthorn supporter. You just drafted Stewart Dew, who not only has spent over a year out of the game, but is much older than Rama and has less years left in him.

Must think you're a shot at the flag.

I'd rather a Rama coming back from battling cancer than Dew coming back from battling his 8th bucket at KFC.

That battle would be like a python versus a mouse. I think 28th bucket is where the battle begins.

don't forget Rama got a spot i our 2000 side and held it without fear, in his first season I might add.

anyway it's stupid to compare a ruckman and midfielder

Yeah stupid especially since the ruckmen in question got clearances and possession stats like another midfielder.:rolleyes:

So just because Rama got a spot in the 22 is enough to make him better than Darce? God and I thought Carlton supporters had arrogrance.

Who beat that 2000 team Rama was in that year?

Yeah and who won the premiership? Or is this going to be another Hawthorn trash style bagging that we cannot beat you and should feel lucky that we didnt play you in the finals? We walked away with the flag and Rama was in a brilliant team and had cemented his position.
