I listened to Prescott's interview on SEN, and this is all in summary...........
He said he is loving the club at present and felt really honoured to be involved with such a great club. He said he is really impressed with the players attitudes, doing things very professionally. He stated that Knights is doing a great job, and he pays real attention to detail which is a great attribute. He then talked about his past coaching commitments, we all know that, so I won't go into that. He said his role at the footy club was the interchange controller. He controls the bench, gives feed back to players coming on / off the bench, etc. Then he got some questions from supporters....... Said the draftees are very coachable and commited players. Said Pears & Myers are really solid lads and are very mobile & skilful. Then he was asked about the list. He said he was very impressed with the young mids (Stanton, Winderlich, etc.) & Ryder. Said that Lloydy will definately be captain in 2008, no doubts about it because he is a tremendous leader. Said the enthusiasm has been great at training, and said Mal Michael hasn't missed a beat at training, he said he is training very very well. He said Myers is much like Pendlebury, and he said they were overly pleased that he was still available at their pick. He said Pears is a backman that has very good speed and is very mature and can make an impact as soon as he gets his chance next year. He said Hooker could be a steal at that late pick, and said he is very fast for a big bloke. He also hinted that they might grab Arrowsmith with their first selection in the Pre-Season draft. And that's about it guys, that's all that was said.
Went on for about 30 mins.
Pretty much talked about our youngsters..
we where very keen on myers. Myers reminds him of pendlebury
Pears 191cm very good speed, endurance.
Hooker flew under the radar. Key running defender type.
also talked about the pre-season draft and mentioned arrowsmiths name of something? I couldnt really hear it right
so arrowsmith was the only player he mentioned when talking about the PSD???
but i guess he wouldn't give too much away anyway

Didnt give too much away.
The bloke interviewing him threw up arrowsmiths name and prescott then said 'yeah, maybe'

Yeah, Arrowsmith's name was the only one he mentioned, he said he played brilliantly in the TAC Cup Grand Final and didn't say much else really. They only talked about Arrowsmith for around 15 seconds. He didn't give too much away, but I thought it was worth mentioning he was talking about Arrowsmith.
The interviewer (Can't remember his name lol) asked him if they were gonna take him and he said, ' Yeah, maybe.'

I wouldnt worry about it. We passed on pick 68 to take a closer look at a few kids and we just placed Lloyd on the outside vet list to have another pick in the PSD. It was a simple mistake

I believe the appointment of Prescott was a masterstroke. He will prove invaluable.
PS Hooker I believe will be the steal of the draft. His Glandular Fever last year made him fall of the radar a bit. Watch this space, Hooker WILL be a star!
Heath Hocking was another player mentioned.
It seems they're earmarking him for a run with role in 2008.

Yep, it does seem they're earmarking him for a run with role in 2008, but I wrecken we've got heaps of them types now. Peverill, Watson, Slattery & possibly Nash & Welsh. I don't think we need many of them tagging types, I'd rather some more speed in the midfield than taggers, but he does seem to have some potential that someone like Peverill lacks. It will be interesting to see how he goes next year......
if we are going to be anygood next year it will mean that our younbg kids have stepped up and peverill wont be in our best 22

Peverill is only really a 1 year prospect, Watson is purely an attacking option, Nash is best suited to a running role off a flank or a wing and Welsh worked well as a negating forward. McVeigh and Slattery are the only real other taggers we've got and if Hocking works there, it could free McVeigh up a bit.
Hocking's perfect for that role in my opinion. He's not too slow so he won't be eating dust, he's one of the fittest guys at the club so he won't run out of puff and he's not going to let us down with poor skills when he gets it.
I think he could slot in very nicely there.

Agree with that. Our young kids do have to step up to be any good, which I'm confident they will. Peverill is a real gutsy midfielder that tries his hard out every week, but yeah, if we are starting to rebuild and start playing an exciting brand of footy, Peverill has to unfortunately get dropped out of the team.

Agree. With Hocking you know you can put him on someone and he will be able to run with them all day without a problem.

Did Prescott talk about his work at Clontarf College? I'm sure he will be able to get the best out of Leroy and continue Paddy's rapid improvement.
Knights continues to get high praises. He is slowly winning me over!

I'm waiting until we actually play a game. Up until now, Knights has put in a faultless display.

Great Source, keep in mind that there is a difference between a tagger and a run with player.
A tagger's role is the one Slattery players. Stop your opponent at all costs, don't worry about the footy, just bang and crash your opponent at every opportunity and take them out of the game.
A run with player follows an opponent through the rotations and plays on the defensive side of them, but they are still to win the footy. They don't free wheel ala Stanton, as their first objective is to limit the effectiveness of an opponent, but winning the footy is still a priority.
Brett Kirk, Kane Cornes, Mark McVeigh, they're run with players.

Well i hope you dont judge on what happens next year. If some of the kids fail to make the grade it wont be all that pretty straight up.

I'd be interested to hear the time frame that you put on the Bombers to be really successful ant? I'm talking real improvement.

All depends on how much the young blokes can step it up. If some of Monfries , Slattery ,Nash , Hocking , Houli , Hislop , Reimers , Lonergan and co can step up in the midfield then improvement could be quick and success could come quickly.
If they dont then it could well be another 3 , 4 , who knows years.

He can be selected in either.
I can't see him being taken in the PSD myself, I think we'll look to grab Ryley Dunn and Tom Bellchambers. Nothing's concrete though.
