Ross Young from Carlton signed up with the Perth Demons
Djaren Whyman Signed to East Perth
On another footy blog site it reported that ex Geelong listed player Sam Hunt was being chased by one or two wafl clubs as well as a number of sanfl clubs especially North Adelaide !? Has his name been thrown about over there....
South Fremantle are likely to get Hunt at this stage.
Kasey Green is another delisted player, going to East Fremantle.

When does the draft for the newly drafted AFL players take place?
Mark Johnson, Clayton Hinkley, Brent Connelly, Brad Ebert, Scott Selwood, Ashley Arrowsmith and ..... (forget the other weagle guy) all need a WAFL home.

Not sure, IP. From memory the 'reverse draft' usually takes place early in the new year.

I see - thanks for the info.
And yeah I was rapt to see Cookie stay loyal to his WAFL club. There's too much club-swapping in the WAFL these days for my liking... :(

Would you expect anything different from Troy ?, wants to give back something to the Demons after they helped him in his younger years.

A lot of players could take notice of this. Well done Troy :thumbsu:

Well it was either play league for Perth or play ressies for one of the other 8 teams...

Oh sure ...........
The Black Duckies would have found room for him and if he isn't a better quality player than Phil Read, well I'll go he.
Troy is a quality person and will give 100% to the Demons.

Absolutely spot on, great bloke and I, for one, would have been shocked if he had gone to another side!
Zillmere Eagles

Anyone interested in a change of lifestyle which includes playing for the Zillmere Eagles in the State League competition (AFLQ) please contact me privately.
The club has a terrific history and are a young club on the rise after playing in the 2006 AFLQ Grand Final and last season winning the Reserve Grade Premiership. One of the top 5 clubs Australia Wide for players drafted.
Club has been involved in some off field issues which have now been resolved but have found ourselves slow out of the blocks from a recruiting point of view. The club is seeking recruits who feel they have something to offer at this level and would like to take the oppurtunity to live in QLD and play in the AFLQ.

There's talk that James Walker will pull the boots on for South Fremantle this year. First played with South in 1999.

I'm both excited and disappointed by that thought. As a Vic who was assigned to Peel, I s'pose he has no real allegiance to them; and considering that in his 9 or 10 years in WA he played 151 AFL games, he really didn't play that many games for Peel at all... but it is a bit of a shame. They really need all the help they can get, and while Jimmy never lit up the AFL stage, he really is an excellent WAFL player - the kind of older guy with good leadership and loads of AFL experience that would be great for the young Peel guys to have around. But he doesn't live there, and he has no emotional ties... so really why should he?
I do reckon he'll look mighty fine in red and white... ;)

I have to agree with you IP. Of all the WAFL clubs to recruit from, I least like getting players from the Thunder.
Those blue and white buggers at Moss Street however I would have no problem "stealing" from (if they had good enough players in which to steal):D

I think Walker can win a sandover, he will be a class above everyone with his running ability
Good to see him come back to the souths. no way would players sign a death-warrant with Peel, i kinda feel sorry for them, they need a few high profile players to join to save the club

I reckon Peel are two dedicated experienced players away from starting a solid move up the charts. They have good youth, they just need some experienced heads to hold them together so the youngsters can learn what winning feels like.
Peel has alot going for it ( growing area ) and can only go up. Was the club set up in the correct way in the first place ?, no because all the other clubs had vested interests.
I have no axe to grind with Jimmy Walker if he goes to Souths, as that is more of a home to him than Mandurah. Haddrill moving from the Demons leaves me cold.
I just wonder if short term concessions could be given for Peel to get some experienced players, eg. salary cap.

Yes your right Whyman did pull the pin and signed up with Moama. Because he wanted to stay close to his family who are from Echuca/Moama.

No-one's mentioned Daniel Chick going to Subiaco.
Rowan Jones has left Claremont and will play in the South-West League (can't remember the club)
As reported on the main board Ashley Sampi will play with Port Fairy in a Victorian bush league.
Ben Cousins still available for the Sharks or whoever wants to take a risk with him...

I'm glad Chick didn't go back to the Sharks... keeps the air down this side of town a little cleaner for us locals... ;)
Shame RoJo isn't suiting up for Claremont - he'd probably win the Sandover if he did. But then again, Claremont sucks, so I don't blame him. :D
Coulda done with Samps as Souths... and I am pretty sure that Cousins is not allowed to play WAFL while his AFL ban stands.

Rowan Jones to play for Collie I believe. It's great to see a few of you being a bit benevolent towards Peel. It makes a change from people kicking out their guts on other footy Chat lines. Obviously a fairer class of footy supporters here. :o

You certainly dont have a problem turning them over to the dark side.
Kris Miller
Matt "turncoat" Clucas
Tim Malseed
theres plenty more I am sure........ actually now I think about it you can have the last two, Miller is the only real loss there

Matt Spencer from Geelong playing for Swan Districts, as is former Collingwood player Guy Richards.
Hope Spence dominates, is a champion bloke.
