Summer TV starts today. Whereas in the past we would be inundated with all the reject shows from the US, I think in the past few years there have been some very good shows on.

Here are the new shows that I have spotted. Feel free to discuss!

The Big Bang Theory (Monday 7.30pm on NINE)
30 Rock (Monday/Wednesday 10.30pm on SEVEN)
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Monday 11.30 on SEVEN) - I know this has been on for a couple of weeks.
Psych (Tuesday 9.30 on TEN)
The Starter Wife (Wednesday 8.30pm on TEN)
Cane (Wednesday 9.30pm on TEN)
Don't Forget the Lyrics (Wednesday/Sunday 7.30pm on TEN)
Journeyman (Thursday 9.30pm on TEN)
Kid Nation (Friday 7.30pm on TEN)

I've seen 30 Rock and Journeyman. 30 Rock has a few laughs but to me it's stock standard American sitcom crap. Journeyman I've been really getting into, it's similar to Quantum Leap so if you liked that show you'll probably like Journeyman as well.

Also if you have Showtime I know Dexter is showing from season one. Don't miss that show.

Will probably try The Big Bang Theory and 30 Rock. Journeyman looks intriquing as well and I'm a big fan of sci-fi.

Don't Forget The Lyrics..ugh! watched it last night .. it's boring and annoying.

If I can recommend any of those it is Journeyman. I have been DLing these and it is an excellent series in the vein of Quantam Leap. But the cast is excellent, the stories well written and it is very well acted. If you like Sci Fi do yourself a favor and check it out.

I have been watching Kid Nation. Not a bad show worth a look, will give you a few good laughs along the way.

Great, another Journeyman fan! Might have to start a spoiler thread. Love the actors in it as well as the great use of music to convey the time periods he travels to.

Aside from her singing, didn't you think that chick was a little bit hot?
Either way, I'd hit it. :thumbsu:

One of those chicks that are simultaneously hot and irritating.

Very nasally voice. But I liked the show, probably more than The Singing Bee. Perhaps it's because I'm a big Wayne Brady fan.

Watched bits of it and noticed the hot chick from House in it. Just read a little about it and apparently she was booted after the first episode because the test audience didn't like her.

Anyway I think I'll watch it next week.

after watching two episodes of dont forget the lyrics, i'm hooked - love wayne brady! same goes for that show cane with jimmy smits, pretty cool so far.
also terrific to see the return of that 70s show.

what's the go with all those 'fast-tracked' shows? (house, heroes, prison break etc.) are they being held back for the return of the ratings season in feb? probably a wise idea because of the writer strike, but i'd imagine the networks here would've done that strike or no strike.

I been a regular follower of 30 Rock it great.

The humor is very cartoonish, the jokes are not very obvious (lack of laugh track) and they continuously break the 'fourth wall'. Slow in the first couple of episodes but its worth seeing. Big problem is that there's a lot of jokes that you'll only get if you closely follow American pop culture and politics - if you though Seinfeld was a bit too 'in', 30 Rock is much worse. Being that C7 is screening it a year late it might be have a bigger hurdle to climb. Reminds me of what they said about Larry David's standup act, the audience hated him but he was a comedian's comedian.

Always sunny, the last 2 episodes have hooked me in. Was a lot of hype and i was disappointed with the pilot, but it has definately got me in. Whenever i visit imdb message boards to read about the show, i know i like it.

30 rock, similarly disappointed after 2 episodes, after all the hype of the Emmys etc... Tina Fey is a naturally funny person but the lines she's written for herself are pretty bland.

Lyrics, watched the first show for the hot chick. Prefer Singing Bee.

Amazing Race is back on as is Survivor for reality tv.(even though i don't call them reality tv shows, i think thats an insult to both)

King of Queens is the usual Summer 7pm slot show. Is watchable, nothing special, nice fluff piece to pass time.

Whilst not top shelf TV I reckon Cane is pretty good... although I am an unabashed Jimmy Smitts fan.
