Essendon captain, Matthew Lloyd, has been placed on the club's veterans list as part of the Bombers' changes to its official list before the Third List Lodgement deadline.

The 29-year-old has played 231 games for Essendon and kicked a club record 829 goals since making his debut in 1995.

He has been placed on the veterans list following the retirement of James Hird.

In 2008, Essendon will have a list of 38 players with two veterans (32-year-old Dustin Fletcher and Lloyd) outside the list. The Bombers will also have four rookies.

This means Essendon will be taking two picks in the pre-season draft (on Tuesday, 11th December) and two players in the rookie draft (also on the Tuesday).

As part of the list lodgement deadline, the AFL advised that the final selection order for the 2007 NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft will not be confirmed until later this month.

That makes me feel old.

I remember when he was a bright, bushy tailed recruit in a feature story on "Wide World of Sport" with Ken Sutcliffe.

2 pre-season draftees... very interesting. A young ruckman and another KPP!

You've got three Queenslanders training with you too.

Wouldn't surprise me if you end up with Dayne Zorko. He's a tough little nut.

Lloyd has been effectively moved into the rookie spot. It was the point of the whole thread.

Excuse my ignorance, but who have we got down to train with us from Queensland?

I certainly wouldn't be complaining if we ended up with any of Rohan Bail, James Mulligan or Dayne Zorko. All seem like very suitable candidates for the rookie list.
